I’ve had zero problems with mine even after riding it home totally flat when I was drunk and had already used my spare tube for 7 miles. Slight wear on the sidewalls that probably wouldn’t still hold sealant without a thorough soaking in it, but then again if it had been tubeless I wouldn’t have had that flat in the first place. Still works fine with a tube though. Also no idea if they’re the same model or not.

I mean, I guess they make other people’s tires? so they’re not all terrible?
I had a phenomenally terrible run of 700c cheapo Vee Rubbers that blew off rims… they were slightly over sized or the bead wasn’t pronounced enough or something. After that, I associate them with bottom of the barrel quality. There are so many good tire manufacturers now- there’s just no reason.

I’ve been pretty happy with the newer Vee Rubber tires on my hambiek given they cost half as much as the QBP tires. I haven’t put too many miles on them though.

they make a bunch of J&B and bikesdirect tires under contract
I think the fanciest stuff they make has their name on it
they were Speedsters or 12s, can’t remember

we mostly talked about vegan food farts and poops

Did you finish the thing? I’m a big fan of psychedelic experiences, but doing mushrooms and riding 360 miles across a desolate bit of Oregon sounds a little meh.

By that standard, most of oregon is desolate. It’s some of the most beautiful country I’ve ever seen, and I grew up in the PNW.

tbh, other than the time I painted my entire apartment from 11PM until dawn while chewing big gobs of Khat, drugs + effort is pretty much always meh

With alcohol there’s a certain sweet spot too… Biking home after a couple beers gives me noticeable beer power, but after that there’s a big decline in ability.

Couple glasses of wine or whisky is my sweet spot. Beer makes me feel too full to do anything unless it’s river grade.

This, so much. Did my normal 30km commute after about 6 beers one night, was kicking arse for the first 10k, then it trailed off real bad and ended up crawling home in the granny…

on Monday just before noon
Had I said yolo to the wind forecasts when I got to Shaniko and continued with my bros I would’ve finished at midnight Sunday, but glad I spent the night there cause I bought all the cold beer in town just before the crusty 80 year old closed up, and was able to make a lot of people happy with handups as they rolled in
If it was early summer with 90 degree highs and a light tailwind the whole way, mushrooms would’ve been fantastic on the middle portion of the course
Instead it was cooler with a constant 10mph headwind, except in the late afternoon when it kicked up to 25mph gusts until the sun went down. That was coincidentally when the drugs kicked in, not frightening but def a distraction from both riding and tripping
It just meant I camped with Squirrel the first night instead of Prolly
rode with a bunch of different groups as I passed people again, and very glad I met them
