American Framebuilders

We only talking builders currently working?
Dave Moulton (an Englishman) built my bike in California in 1989

And I don’t know who built the Oasis but I know it was made in Arizona.

Ian, get a Davidson.

would love to own a bike like cooky’s one day.
basically an all-arounder roadbike

yeah bill used to import those takahashi lugs i think they were.
bill also doesn’t have a crazy long wait list coz there are a few people in the shop instead of just a single dude building frames.
his paint is way way better than i expected.
I think it was Matsushita (now Panasonic) lugs. He was going off about them! How you can’t build with Long Shen’s like you did with those, etc etc. Man…I was just awestruck at how he was passionately talking to some random tourist like me of his tales in Japan.
you’re probably right about Matsushita instead of takahashi…
he was talking to me about that the same way when we had a few conversations about what i wanted out of the bike he was building the frame/fork for.

i mentioned nagasawa shorelines and stuff and then he started telling me about going to japan and meeting nagasawa and all that stuff…importing the lugs and shit. it was cool.
funny thing is i happened to just walk into his shop the same way as you…i was in seattle for something and just wasting time…walked in there.
i got to talk to bill a few days later when i went in to get one more look at all the bikes and we talked for a good while about geometry and all kinds of stuff.

a year or two later i had him build me a frame.

^Damn memory sucks and I am now thinking Hitachi lugs. Yeah I think thats it with a globe looking mark. He showed it to me on a this beatiful black bike. Either way it was a Japanese appliance maker.
So same talk and year or 2 later huh…if that is some magic spell he casts that means I will be flying to Seattle and ordering a frame this October lulz

possible man.
just know what you want him to design for you and then let him do his thing.

also check the davidson scans…
it probably talks about the lugs we can’t remember the name of…
I remember late 80’s Bicycle Guide magazine doing profiles on American builders.
