Dropped the chain today on the 8-speed StumpJumper - probably just a fluke because it’s been completely solid for over 2 months now, including over rough terrain, but I’d rather have a narrow-wide on there.
I’d just buy one but…
Alternatively, if there’s something else out there that’s not Stridisland, VO or Wolf Tooth that I’m missing, I’m all ears.

profile racing has one with a built in guard. unclear if it’s narrow wide but based on the picture maybe not?
Doesn’t look like it. I might buy one for my BF anyway. looks pretty sweet and would be rad on my Middleburn cranks that I think I’m gonna put on that bike.

I used to usually get mine from Riv since they would usually have them in stock. Now they don’t have much unless you don’t mind the Origin8 rings with 110 and 130 holes (which, admittedly, are pretty practical). I usually put Surly stainless chainrings on my commuters because they last for a long time and they’re still stocking a wide range of sizes.

Seriously. I just had to track down chainrings for a 110/74 Sugino triple. Sugino chainrings no longer seem to be available in the US. Fancy options like TA aren’t really available. I think I ended up with some Dimension things. This used to be the bog standard nerd crank.
This free market capitalism thing seems to be going just great.
I’m also traveling to the USA in about a month if there’s anything that can easily be carried in bags and posted upon arrival

I was also able to dig up some other 7075 T6 options, but yeah it’s sparse.
Aliexpress is wild, i bought a hat that @Eric_Estlund posted from there, the next day then sent me a message saying “sorry for keeping you waiting on this hat” and offered me a $5 credit (hat was $2.88 shipped). then the hat showed up the next day, was way too small for my melon and that was that, and i made $2.12 in Aliexpress Bucks.
Another theory about the chain drop is that my current regular-regular chainring is completely fine and I accidentally hit the chain with the heel of these new Lono Barefoot shoes on the upstroke. They have this weird “stabilizer” jawn out back that’s kinda like a tab which extends beyond the natural end of the shoe. Clearances are pretty tight and I can feel the shoe bumping the chainstays sometimes. It wasn’t easy to reproduce it actually contacting the chain, but possible.
