asploded bike parts thread

Exactly where my original bi-plane fork went too.

I know unicrown is better, but I’ll really miss this bi-plane.

I wonder if filling the fork blade with that automotive structural foam shit would increase the fatigue life?
Someone do that then send the bike to me for “testing”

Makes me that much more happy that we played it as safe as possible.

Should I sand and reveal the truth or yolo

YOLO until it gets worse

What would be the plan if you got bad news? Repair? Sand. Throw away? YOLO.

If I could find someone to repair it for a decent price I would do that. Kind of want to paint it anyway…

So seatstay is cracked on the carbon fiber MTB. Felt won’t do anything without a receipt ( which I figured is what would happen but…might as well try)
Anyone recommend CF repair shops? I am going to ask at my normal shop to see if they can recommend anyone local.

Where are you located?

Oh I guess that would be helpful. Louisville KY

no duh

also, you said you crashed it

it’s not felt’s fault. at all. I deal with this crap all the time, even asking (for a free replacement when you are at fault) is kinda jackass, my dude.

sand it. If it’s cracked there it’s potentially a pretty easy fix.

I never asked for anything when I took it in, just was like “Look at what I did”. Even the guy in the shop was like “yeah let me take pictures and send em off because sometimes they do shit and sometimes they don’t.” I am fine with paying money as it was definitely something I did that caused it to break . I just wanted to explore if Felt would offer any kind repair or exchange through them before I took it to a 3rd party.

if cracking continues just install a hose clamp/U bolt below the lug to complete the breakaway conversion :stuck_out_tongue:

Drill the ends of the crack first, then what they said.

Does Glen have someone else making the forks?
(Not shown - lopsided crown & glob of painted-over flux.)

Am I being unreasonable? I feel as though I paid way too much money for that sort of department store bike bullshit.
