Lol ought to be in the JAOTD thread

Kinda cool how the internal cable ripped through the downtube.

Wow, that’s crazy. I’m imagining the sound that made.

jockey wheels look salvageable

These guys put all their stuff into a shipping container and went adventuring.

I know they were having some reported issues with eagle, because torkin that 30x50 wasn’t so good on the pawls. they were testing all 6 engaged at once to correct it.

Chain looks really clean.

Here I thought that the reason they had 6 is so that when one failed, the next one would catch it, who knew!

One of the girls on the trip this weekend derailleur was broken and kept shifting into her spokes. Eventually it did this:

She hitchhiked the last 10 miles to the ferry.

Good excuse to upgrade to 10sp atmo

is the hanger kill?

Must have made it through the car wash.

Yeah, you can see is physically broken in picture two.

If your derailleur is rubbing against your spokes, stop shifting into your low gears, people.

That’s what I told her. Her chain dropped at one point climbing a hill and I looked at it and I told her to stop shifting into those gears. Two minutes later, this happened.

That was some really expensive advice to ignore.

tinkle-tinkle-tinkle is no time for gentle advice

get them to pull over, eyeball it from behind to confirm, and womanhandle it so at least the pulley cage is sorta straight

Like wrap both hands around the whole derailleur while it’s in a big cog, and use it to bend the hanger while the tinkle-victim holds their saddle to brace against your efforts. It’s not a problem if you bend it a little too far, their shifting will improve regardless and avoid self-destruction.

or just turn the limit screw in and deal with it when in camp
