Bicycle Secrets
Is your tub really dirty?

I just hang my bike up and use a rag to floss the cassette, clean off the derailleur pulleys, wipe down the chainrings, and run the chain through it after every long ride. Then I put a few drops of NFS on it (I hate that this stuff actually works) and shove it in the shed. Less than 5 minute operation.
what is NFS?

15 dollar artisanal lube

Eric gave me a bottle months ago. I’ve got 4 bikes I ride regularly. I think I’ve got more than half left.

oh yeah that shit. I cant believe anyone here has some.

i’ve stopped using it and have been trying to talk people out of buying it. not a fan of the misogynistic boy’s club attitude. plus the guy parks his porsche in the bike lane when he drops off more stock.

like everyone else, I hate that their circlejerk lube works

but I haven’t found anything nearly as good

Not to defend douchenozzles but I’d wager 98% of everything we buy has at least one of these asshats in the supply chain or, more likely, at the head of the company.
Depressing, I know.

I use bar & chain oil for wet weather chain lube. Pro-link for dry.

I use whatever’s handy and dgaf.

I ride my shit dry.
Loud chains save fluorcarbons.

let he who is without sin cast the first stone

I was replacing the brakes on my cross bike today and realized that I’ve been riding it in drought conditions for weeks now without thinking about it. There was 1/8" of caked dust on front facing surfaces near the wheels. The chain…my god, the chain.

totally

I think my 10-of-11-on-5700-hubs worked. Just took one 1mm spacer behind the cassette. Took the 11t cog off and used a 12t lockring. Haven’t ridden it yet but everything seems to check out so far.

in my version the albino monk from the devinci code is also lurking in the background

Just spit out the vanilla coke i stopped for as a post ride treat.
