bicyclewheels.com

has anyone ever ordered with them?

how long would you say it takes from the day you paid to they get to your door?

How’s their job at building?
what’s your opinions?

thanks :bear:

They are fine but you should definitely check the tension of the spokes.

I’ve had several sets built by that guy.
They’ve all been quality.
The turnaround for all of em was 1.5-2 weeks.

Yep. I got my sun M13-Formula set from them and they were great for a couple weeks, then I noticed some serious wiggle in the rear wheel, checked things out and a couple of spokes were completely loose. Started carrying a spoke wrench everywhere ever since.

Bicyclewheels.com isn’t bad, but also check out bicyclewheelwarehouse.com. They have some great deals (formula/open pro for $200) with upgrade options, and they usually include cloth rim tape. Their turnaround is pretty fast, too. I bought some road wheels from them and they were well built. I would always de-stress and check the tension on new wheels, though.

i think i may have gotten a pair from them one time, so i’ll just say everything was a-ok

All the stuff of these various websites about being handmade is essentially bullshit. They’re machine-made, hand-tensioned, and sold through J&B. As such, any wheel bought through here should be checked for proper spoke tension before being ridden.

I’m still riding the front wheel from a bikewheels.com cxp22/formula set, thats been solid for over 3 years and didn’t need much truing even after getting tagged by a pickup truck. The rear was built poorly and probably wasn’t stress relieved, it was always going out of true and some of the spokes would loosen so much you could turn the nips with your fingers. Eventually the rim cracked at the eyelets and I just bought another wheel. I don’t know if I got a wheel built on a friday or what, but I doubt it was truly handbuilt.

FTFY

I’ve gotten two wheelsets from them. One needed some minor truing after 1.5 years of regular commuting and has otherwise held up just fine. The other has only seen a month or so of riding but it appeared solid and rolled true out of the box. Checking for trueness and proper tension on any and all wheels you own should be de rigeur, if you consider yourself a cyclist.

cool… went with the open pros/formulas from them, should be on the whip by the 3rd of march

My understanding is that Cesar and just a handful of employees actually do lace them by hand. At least, that’s what he told me.

EDIT: nvm. Can’t read correctly for shit today.

That may be the case now, but when I bought a pair of wheels from Bicyclewheels.com a few years ago, they were clearly drop-shipped from somewhere else. I presume J&B, since they’re the primary company in this field and all their wheels are made in Miami (where Bicyclewheels.com is located).

I haven’t ordered from them, but thanks for the bookmark. I’ll keep them in mind for projects.
