BMW Gangsta Track Fork

Considering buying one sometime to make barspins on a normal track frame possible. Anybody done this or ridden a bike with this set up? Any other input?

Thanks.

john prolly did

Word, but I was wondering more about the ride as well, not just the tricks.

it look to me like that fork would slacken the seat tube and head tube angles of your bike by at least a degree, and maybe more.

And it’s incredibly ugly. Have you considered building a BMX bike or something similar.

I wish this whole fixie freestyle thing would just go away.

might want to go find yourself a new forum then. We make fun of tarck shit but only because we make fun of everything.

someone had to be the first one to take bicycle motocross (bmx) bikes and start doing tricks on them. Someone had to take a bike offroads for the first time. Someone had to be the first to use their mtb to do trials type stuff.
just because it’s new doesnt mean it’s dumb. It is genuinely different than bmx so it deserves it’s own stuff.

basically i’m pretty tired of people telling tarcksters to get a bmx when that’s not at all what they’re trying to do.

I pretty much agree with you 100% straws.

I think my pain meds are wearing off.

I don’t. Party foul freestyle is about as cool as rollerblading.

I loved this from Snob today, about Prolly:
“[Prolly] likes the fact that he can use a single bike for tricks, commuting, alleycat racing, and riding to the store to purchase new flat-brim caps (I made that last one up)…”

jealousy.
small man complex?

Jealous of who? Some inane culture-vulture with bad style?

i have to agree… sometimes BSNYC sounds kind-of like he secretly admires the recognition & abilities of Prolly.

and personally, i think Prolly has skills.

i like both of their blogs.

is this for your IRO? you really should check out tricktrack.freeforums.org. they’ll have the answer. i believe the bmw forks are 35mm rake but i have no idea about the crown to axle length.

it would be impossible to add a brake, unless you go with cantis or v-brakes. i know of a guy who rides around detroit on a bmw with v-brakes. if you add a bmx gyro you can get barspins as well as quick stops.

for me, tricks are a secondary thing. i’ve been trying to learn wheelies, keos, etc, but with a front brake and bullhorn handlebars. the ability to commute and have fun is what makes track tricks cool for me. that’s what i love about this vid:

A gyro? You is dumb.

Yeah dude, it’s all about the Oryg now!

oh whatever i don’t bmx. it’s that little thing that allows you to barspin with brakes.

I remember when I saw that in BMX PLUS! for the first time when I was in sixth grade and was all like “Oryg? That’s a funny name for a - OOOOOHHH, those crazy bastards just flipped it around!” That was awesome. The shop at which I work still has a box in the parts room labeled “BMX Gyros” or something like that, but it’s empty. I’m awaiting the day when one the clouds part and one arrives. It shall certainly be sweet.

I still have all the parts for a bmx gyro in my parts bin.

That’s for a rear brake, though. For a front you just run it down the fork.

Yeah but then you’d still need a bmx stem.

Nah.

I always wondered why this didn’t happen in the FG freestyle world, but I s’pose that’d make one look like a pussy.
