Sloping top tube measured c-c would effectively be longer, right?
Here is my road bike
60.5cm st c-t
58.5 ett
20.5 ht

i’ll email them about it
I know it’s a Seven and all, but ‘real’ CX bikes from back then had shorter toptubes than the equivalent size road bikes. Might be the same still idk
Sorry I meant my post as a warning not a roast. I do believe based on the properties of a triangle that your hypotenuse is going to be the longest side. So that top tube is effectively shorter than 575.
I think I am misreading what you wrote, but just to be clear:
Sloping TT measured c-c is going to be a shorter length than a horizontal TT measured c-c.
Or think of it this way: When a sloping top tube intersects the seat tube at 90°, that is the shortest possible piece of tube it could be made from. As the TT-ST intersection moves upwards to the horizontal TT position, (or downwards to be a step-through), the tube itself needs to be longer.
So if that Seven is 575 actual top tube, then the effective horizontal TT will be something in the 585-595mm neighborhood. (I was curious so built it in CAD, going from measurements given and a including some basic guesses like 72.5° HTA and STA).
Edited to add more range. Adjusting the HTA or STA alone by half a degree, or adding 10mm to the c-c head tube guesstimate really changes things.
Oh duh, yeah the sloping one is closer to the hypotenuse. Stupid! I did completely forget how that works. Have only bought mtbs and looked at reach in the past like 10 years.
$300 mooney that looks to be a carbon copy of a generic vintage trek
I think it’s actually steel.
wouldn’t be steel without carbon, else it’d be iron
Which contains carbon, checkmate.
Grant’s preference is for his carbon to be in an iron matrix, others like expoxy, tomato/potato.
I have too many bikes

That’s really pretty
shaped ti for 2 katu? if it fits buy it
also— we recently talked about which nicer tires were available in 559
pretty nice deadender
Yeah that’s a no-brainer.
I hit them up but probably too late to be first in line. Which is maybe for the best. I already have two 26ers in the shed
Nothing fancy but anyone know how these compare to modern FS bikes?
looks 2010 era. Is single pivot going to climb terribly?
Fun part comes when you can get twice the fork for the price of a rebuild but no new fork will fit
