Dammit: Post your bike

Stack 'o dimes right there!

A friend of mine saw that for sale locally for $1500 and I said it probably wasn’t worth it… considering it doesn’t appear to be disc compatible and those brakes seems suspect

Non disc kills it

I imagine marino could whip up a modernized version for not a whole lot more all together

I don’t understand why you guys are so obsessed with tiny wheel bicycles that don’t fold. I rode a Moulton and it was not nice although it was a surprisingly good investment–first time I ever sold a bike for more than I paid for it.

Although I could take cool pictures of it

Who wants to drop $800+ on a custom Ti Burro?

Ask for as much tire clearance as you want!

I would rock something like this with belt drive and some mid drive ebike setup

They’re old Magura rim brakes. They probably stop about as well as cable discs.

I want to, which is also why I do not have $800 to drop on it in the first place.

I am considering contacting Marino about this, since he has a background in trials and custom BMX stuff. I mocked up the burro geo in bikecad with a few changes, but the tricky part is that I reallllly think the platform would benefit from full 4" fat tires/rims, etc. Bonus points if it also supported 24x3" tires…

So there’s some logistics around sourcing the rims and making sure it all clears fine. Also the massive headtube thing is one solution for bar height, but why not just make it a normal headtube and run a tall BMX bar. You could tilt the bar to lengthen or shorten the reach, and there are lots of different heights available. Lastly, the seatube can be lowered and either use a telescoping post, or one of the really long droopers.

If Marino is down to build me one, we could do the BP thing and preorder a run of them. They would likely need to be partial completes to ensure the wheels and cranks all work right.

Here’s the mockups:

What about making it tall enough to hard mount a Katu basket (or other platform thing) to the head tube?

I suppose that could be done. I’m coming from a place of having a pretty tall standover on the burro and wanting that “BMX” look and feel.

atmo i would do a katu basket mount but have a platform as opposed to the basket

Another thing to consider is how great a BMX bar is for strapping stuff to. More relevant to bikepacking than daily portage though

How are sweeps and widths on bmx bars?

28-30" with 10-12deg backsweep and a degree or two of upsweep. Not a ton of variance, aside from the rise which ranges from 8-11"
