How many miles have you put on it? Have you played around with tires/pressure at all to see if that may have had something to do with the qualities you dislike about it?

tbh I think Tarmacs look great for goin fast but I’d never own one bc it seems like that’s kinda all they’re good for. Aethos strikes me as way nicer looking if you’re aiming for light modern carbon roadie that doesn’t ride like a race bike.
I think the current iteration is among the most comfortable aero road bikes, but yeah if you want something that’s lighter/simpler the Aethos is the move, but it’s not exactly a noodle either.

I mean going fast is the point of road bikes. If they’re aero optimized into not handling well then they’re dropbar tt bikes.

On one hand yea, on the other hand I think there’s a distinction between a crit bike and a road bike you’d wanna ride for 100+ miles.
sure , and there’s a distinction between the two in how they’re designed and sold. There’s a gray area where road and randonneuring bikes intersect (an area that interests me a LOT), but fast is the point.
the thing with road vs. tt/ tri is that a fast road bike should handle well, whereas a pure aero bike just has to be slippery. I don’t think anyone is going to expect a Quintana Roo to effortlessly corner down a series of switchbacks.

the whole “endurance” road bike thing happened five years too soon - those Roubaixs with boner shock stems and 500mm headtubes could have just been Tarmacs with really nice 32mm tires!
