Sweet hybrid!

I haven’t PYBed in a long, long time, and I don’t think I’ve every exposed my Jones to ridicule.

Ooh, err, missus!

Ferg how in the fuck do you own the sexy fuck English and then also that monstrosity?

I wanted something mountain-bike esque that was light (it’s 20 lbs) but also not terrible on the road. This bike works for its intended purpose–which is basically a bad neck day bike. Which is still about 50% of the time.

It’s as if a Rivendell met a Pedersen in a fever dream.

Couple things I might do:

  1. I think I’m going to put on a substantially longer stem; I am most comfortable on the outside loop of the Jones bars and could use even more room.
  2. I need to fuck with the angle of those bars more. I initially had them flat and that was really unpleasant.
  3. I think I might switch out the Jones bars, I’ve tried a bunch of different angles

So DQ, what kind of bars or extensions or whatever can I do to get my wrists positioned so they are more like the angle they are at when you are on the hoods of drops, ie, parallelish with the top tube?

Drop bars?

Yeah, That’s an amazing hybrid and I love it.

Hey Ferg, I’ll take the Jones bars off your hands if you decide to ditch em.

Yeah and I basically use it as a hybrid

Will do on bars. They’re the crabon ones. But like most bike things I usually just suffer with them until I get some sort of stress injury.

I really do like this bike, but man it was a bitch to get everything together. The most complicated thing was trying to figure out where to put an internal battery.

Does anyone actually enjoy building bikes? Because I have a vintage Bates I want to eTap but I AM TOO INTELLECTUALLY LAZY to figure out all the partz

PS when I had it repainted I had the rear spacing spread to 130 mm so no problem there

Ship the parts out to Oregon and I’ll put it together for you. I’ve been itching to build up a fly-by-wire machine for a while.

Thanks! I may do that. I’m actually going to try this winter to figure it out myself, if I fail I will definitely do that.

Stay tuned for numerous DQs like how do you get eTap levers to work with cantilever brakes

There is nothing difficult there. Shouldn’t be an issue to etap old canti thing.

I want to know if that fork is all that. First time I saw one I thought it was a drunken welding joke, but there are others who say it’s HAUNTED with awesome.

That’s the sort of project I could really get into. I’d probably want to surprise you with color scheme and small details, unless you have very specific ideas.

Hmm well I’m now thinking about silver

Campy potenza
Velocity deep v polished
White industries t1 1
Paul polished silver skewers
Paul Cantu’s

Anyway this is not the thread for weird bike dithering

Oh and I found vo crazy bars which seem to meet my needs for the jones
