Dammit: Post your bike

Didn’t someone on here recently post a link to a 45-minute-long video “debunking” claims that disk brakes are better? I didn’t watch it because, holy shit, 45 minutes of that?!?

It seems like there’s a very minor backlash against the idea that disk brakes are better. Also, a long and glowing article about Grant in the NYer didn’t hurt.

Yeah, but I’ve been sitting on a Gios Compact Pro for like a decade and I assumed I’d never be getting rid of it at this point. This gives me hope.

You’ve been offering it for sale here for a decade with no takers. I think you need to broaden your buying audience if you want to actually sell it.

I sent it to a bike swap once. No takers there either.

I will admit that I’ve not been the most active seller.

For what its worth, I’d mostly given up on selling the frame for anything resembling ‘value to me.’ Forgot that I’d had the complete bike listed on Prolly-mart and was offered a nearly-complete price for just the frameset, so couldn’t really pass that up.

I think it got sold with the Olmo maybe?
Or maybe it was on a bike that I lent to my idiot cousin Rob that he let get stolen immediately. Either way, it’s long gone from my hoard.

I ate a ‘loss’ on selling the carbon fatbike, even though I did get a substantial sum, but I thought of it this way: it’s like risking being stuck with a pristine Softride or Trek Y-Foil in the garage.

It may still be perfectly functional, and even ideal for some people, the ‘zeitgeist’ has moved away, so you’d better get some money while people still think it’s worth any at all.

Sure, you may find that one person who’ll pay what it’s ‘worth’, or you may not and it still sits in your garage gathering dust.

Yeah, totally on board with this. I happen to think the RB was a nice enough frame that it’d look good hanging in the wall of my office/bike mess and that there would have been a good chance that I’d feel compelled to build it up again later. Still nicer to get an offer I couldn’t refuse.

Storm over the lake this morning but sunny here on shore. Really feels like October, I love it.

The Revel showed up today. Front is a QR Reba from 2012 and what appears to be a cheap new Formula hubbed front wheel. Rear is a DT 240 and a carbon rim. Everything appears to beep boop correctly.

If I knew you IRL I’d give you a lot of shit about this but since I don’t, I’m just happy that you’re happy

My bongo fork died two poopbarns ago and I picked up this CHYNA one for free.

Last week I put my Ritchey Beacons and sram red on it. Did my WFH lunchtime loop today and it goes real good.

Not sure if i use this or the OPEN for my next big poopbarn. Either way i have to borrow a dynamo wheel cos mine is 700 12mm TA, I can borrow a 650b for the OPEN or a 29er 15mm for this thing.

When someone asks me why there are so many bikes in my living room I politely explain that they are all different and are good for riding in different places or conditions.

What do you say?
