Demo’d an evil following, then started searching for medium followings on pinkbike… this came up with the full push treatment so it checked off two dither boxes, and aside from the wheelset I had everything else in the garage waiting for a frame so…
I may be in over my head with suspension tuning now. Not sure if the shock is the 11.6 or the VTX, but it has a lot of dials. Fork is a 140mm pike with the ACS3/HC97 kits. between the dual coils and onyx hubs/burly alloy rims it’s sitting at a beefy 33.5 pounds
Exported a 4th bike to prison island, when my daughter returned yesterday. 8 left. This one is going to my daughter’s partner in Melbourne. Hes got short legs so it should fit him. I wish I’d put those RTPs on it earlier. It really flies. Just had the headshok serviced, the bearings needed resetting.
It takes the curb in front of my house very nicely, hoping to get a ride in this weekend (though we have a poorly timed heat wave in the works that might interfere)
My junk bike. I rode it a lot as a regular flatbar MTB but it never fit right. Eventually swapped all the parts to another bike that was more my size. Frame sat on my balcony for months until it was time to toss it during a move. Had the frame in my hands to throw into the dumpster a couple years ago but decided to keep it for a little while longer.
Shortly after was inspired by a thread on the trainer road forum to build it up as parts-bin drop bar. Had mis-matched BB cups, mystery creaking, clapped out cranks/fork/tires/etc. Had been riding it for a while as 2x but killed the front shifter somehow at the start of Summer, shifting with a stick since then. Today I finally swapped in a 1x crank and rebuilt the fork. First ride on this bike in a couple weeks so naturally the dropper starts malfunctioning in the middle of the ride and I have to go home and swap the seatpost to my spare with too much offset. And it’s still creaking somewhere. But it’s really fun to ride.
Its super pretty! Climbing from the Stunt rd (or Red Rock Canyone) side is steep as fuck, but if you go via Summit to Summit motorway its much more pleasant (though not without a few steep pitches)
I think I need some cork and twine. The tall VO stem sure isn’t as cool as the vintage salsa I wanted to use but at least with this one the brakes work
