Been dithering with some Woodman bits, shaved a good amount of weight with the seatpost
Next replace that fork with the alloy steerer
Delta between Ritchey alloy and carbon steerer forks is about 150g. Next up for weenie cut is tires.
150g is 150g, buddy!
You can make him safe but one of us will just buy it from him
I’ll consider it! These American Classic tires are 365g a piece, I can probably shave a pound by switching to any other decent TLR. also still waiting on Astral to drill me a 20h Solstice so I can get this new CK wheelbuild sorted. all that should drop it into 18-19lb territory.
Parents left town this morning so I was finally able to take the new bike for some laps around the neighborhood
I like it
Took Snowaguchi on the likely last ride of the season, it’s gonna snow every day this week.
It has the new fenders that I fussed over for hours. I think I got the line pretty tight.
It’s funny, after riding my rigid 29er so much, the GravelKings feel like they had a a slight touch of oversteer. I wonder if that’s just a matter of knocking off a few PSI, or just not being used to skinny tires.
I think part of this is from the file tread pattern. As the tire leans, the transition to the diagonal pattern pulls the steering in the wrong direction and bias towards oversteer.
It’s been so long I don’t remember but I think I ran the front backwards and it made a significant difference.
Thank you! I’ll give that a shot.
Light out now so I got a full bike shot and took a quick spin. Tiny bit of buzz on the rear NDS side since the fender isn’t centered exactly and there’s not much tolerance for things not being perfect.
One of my favorite bikes on Tarck.
ive never seen a top tube bag look less attached.
certainly a sick bike tho with amazing kevin fenderlines.
Enjoying this run of drop bar fender bikes
Happy to report that I worked on the rear one for about 2 hours tonight and made it both better and slightly worse in a few different ways.
Getting fenders to work in ways they aren’t really supposed to is a favorite hobby of mine apparently.
I think you should put one of those stayer Cycles banana stems on it with some hi-rise bars arranged like this:
its like it was designed specifically for this.
my sternum hurts just looking at it.
there should be a loop in the handlebar to reference the jones loop but not
