You might be able to find factory crossbars at a u-pull-it junkyard, but thatās a whole fishing expedition.
I had a Hyundai with perma-bolted on aftermarket roof towers. Pull the headliner down, drill holes in a sturdy location, seal the towers to the roof with a flexible waterproof adhesive goop. A buddy did mine before I bought the car from him and they were A+ never leaked.
All that said, if you have rain gutters (appears you do) then finding a rain-gutter mount rack is the absolute best idea. Call play it again sports or whatever used-gear shops exist, there is likely (used to be) a roof-rack-specific used gear shop around.
These would be fine:
Only caution is that older racks can be hard to find locks for (to lock the towers to your roof).
On these specific racks they have this factory spacer block to help clear tall van roofs, they can be removed but youāll need to buy some shorter bolts to use.
In store only, looks like?
In store only means that color and sizeway are sold out. I wear a pretty average 43 and found plenty combos in stock
Appreciate the write-up and this definitely sounds like the best approachā¦
Alas this is less clear to me as I donāt see the obvious lip that some cars seem to have. Here are some pictures:
go to one of the chain stores and have them write you a quote.
Thereās gotta be a forum somewhere that has full list of every option from major manufacturers thatās ever been tested on the car. (If not, RIP forum culture.
)
I found an old compatibility list on Yakimaās support site. It says you can use Y11 clips for the SST towers. The Q-clips might be easier to find, though. This list says Q31 should work.
These are only round bar towers. I had the Q towers on my old Toyota and used them on my Subaru sedan, too.
Thanks! Youāve given me hope with this rain gutter system. Iāll have to do some shopping aroundā¦
We have ReRack that deals in used rack parts. The last time I was in there, they didnāt want anything that was older than 5 years. Maybe SEA has something like that.
I have some Jenson codes Iām not going to use.

though, hell, i havenāt been there in 10+ years.
i do remember fondly going with some friends before we all carpooled to cherry blossom stage race and outfitting their old volvo with 3 rows of bars and racks to accommodate 5 bikes and 4 wheel forks out of a wide selection of mismatched parts. i dunno what it cost at the time, but a fraction of what it would cost today to put together a rack set up like that.
rerackās been around for almost 20 years, my buddy used to take great joy in retelling installation stories involving drilling holes into land rovers and the like
I was responding to the not buying stuff older than 5 years part, if that was unclear. Should have quoted.
Original Frankenbell ā Spurcycle frankenbells are back baby!

Send me one?
I bought two of the denim ones.
3 minutes left!
