Did you just ShartQ?

How would those handle on an aggressive XC course? Relatively easy to get bottles in and out without worrying about losing them while riding?

My camera def makes the feed bag flop around doing rigid mtb to the point where I don’t really put it in there anymore because I fear damage to the camera BUT that bag isn’t going anywhere. Three points of attachment. You can only fit a 22 oz bottle in there securely though. I suppose you could cinch the 26 at the little waist near the top and it’d stay there in the vast majority of situations.

I saw a lot more hydration packs this year for the solo category in the 6hr race. One of the women on the podium had a bottle cage+waist pack bottle collabo.

I just did the single bottle in the cage and swapped out the empty every lap.

There was a guy in my cat that started on an Open UP with 2.1s. I don’t know how some of the more rowdy downhills were on drop bars, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t try it.

I am not a fan of hydration packs, but last year’s experiment of completely forgoing a pack for bottles turned into a chore. This year I decided to give packs another chance and ended up with 10-12 different packs. I haven’t written up my findings, but my favorite thus far is this one:

No bouncing or sloshing. The strap-mounted pocket is sized for OG Nokias, but the external pocket holds my iPhone XR comfortably (I carry spares on the bike). With a bottle for Osmo, I’m good for 3-4 hours.

What’s the good word on an amazon purchased battery light system for off-road use? Where’s the battery light thread?

I’m pretty sure Phil grease is just bog-standard waterproof trailer hitch grease. Bought a big cardboard tube of it when my actual Phil grease ran out and was surprised to find it an exact match, as far as I could tell.

Somebody on BrianForums figured out it was some sort of marine grade grease about 10 years ago.

also, just worth pedanting this- i don’t know of a grease that is not waterproof.

There are many greases that are not waterproof.

I have never purchased a tube of Phil, but I have 4 in the garage. One is from my partner’s father, the other 3…i dunno…

what greases? not doubting, just legit curious. i thought that was one of the qualities of being a “grease”
how does “waterproofness” get defined for a grease? is it just being immiscible with water or is there a proper rating system like the IPxx?

I have no idea why some greases are and some are not. White lithium grease is definitely not waterproof, plain molybdenum grease isn’t, most sold over the counter as auto wheel bearing grease is not either but comes closer. This is based off both my experience with automotive and bikes where the above greases were rinsed out of non sealed assemblies by rain water and waterproof grease holding tight.

I was honestly expecting a question about my 4 tubes of Phil.

Hey, shit happens.

Horror movie or porno, you decide!

I have 2 tubes of phil grease and I’ve never purchased a single one. How does this happen?

Opposite of loosing socks.

Also have Phil and never bought Phil

the bicycle gnomes leave them on the 3rd full moon of each year

Is this a riddle? You guys are just stealing it.

Seize the means of production…

(by stealing its lubricants)
