I need a new pair of bib shorts for trainer and the occasional road ride—one of my old ones finally gave up. Should I just get the rapha core bibs? Want to spend $150 or less and not think too hard.
I just wanted to post a knipex
Rapha core is nice for the money.
Black Bibs is nice for the money, too. But that just means they’re nice for cheap bibs.
I’ve got both and I’d rather wear the rapha any day.
I like the Neopro stuff for cheap kit too, 7mesh is nice for spendier bibs
The robot told me it was a BMX bottom bracket. I told the robot to stuff it.
It’s the only photo I have and I’ve never seen a splined BB like that.
Also, something something, team of experts.
did you take it all the way out?
is it a cartridge bb?
is it just a cup?
what kind of crank is it?
what kind of bike is it?
Looks like an old EBB with the cup barely threaded in
Get out the vice grips and toss it
Seconding Neopro for good/cheap.
Thats the owner Nick. I even drove the little shit down to the track Nats in Invercargill one year. When he was a teenager. A 2 day drive.
@Crustradamus
What is your beef with 28h?
32 durable
28 cost saving
24 weight
Is that it?
32 mountain
28 gravel
24 road
Part of it for me is what the replacement options are for a rim if something goes bad. For the most part, 28h 29er rims exist, but in fewer options, so if you kirk out and wreck a 28h rim, your repair options are going to be a little more limited for choice and going to spend a bit more time waiting for the part.
Right now QBP has 5 options for a 28h 29er rim with an inner diameter between 29 and 35 under $100 (cost). Not awful at the moment, but it’s sometimes as little as two in stock. 7 options for 32h.
JBI is currently sold out if their one and only option under $100 (cost). They have 5 in stock in 32h.
I always end up keeping a few i30 DT rims in their OEM level 28h for this kind of thing, but even these are sometimes hard to get a hold of. So if someone nukes a stock Bontrager wheel oem wheel an doesn’t want to buy a $150+ msrp rim to fix it, they might be hosed. That sucks.
not quite 155, but Shimano 105 comes in 160mm
My old specialized hardtail came with 24h f / 28h r wheels, i still use them on my Stooge and they’ve been bombproof for the past 8 years. I’d say if you’re not hard on wheels don’t worry about it.
Are you light? I am hard on wheels.
Yeah I’ve broken spokes
28h on road is ok for me I guess
Stock Surly Karate Monkey (2022 maybe?) wheels have this rim strip… is it good to go with tubeless or do I pull it and add tape?
Pull and tape atmo. (just eyeballing it ATMO, no specific product knowledge)
Yea pull it and tape it. Rim strips are for tubes, unless you’re unlucky enough to have some weird bontrager wheels.
