Speechless
How tall is she?
Fuck
niece height
borderline xs s on 27.5
gonna need a budget
prob under 2k sheâs just going to grow out of it
Thatâs a bummer. I was getting jacquie phelans emails from the GoFundMe after the accident for years. Quite moving at times.
avg 12 yr old kid is 4â 11 so Iâd say firmly XS
This thing looks sick but wrong price lol https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/4142103/
otoh it is probably worth 2k
how much does girl specific matter?
Some Scott or Specialized carbon XC race thing will probably be the lightest. The Orbea Laufey looks a lot more fun geometry-wise for a hardtail.
Kinda depends on what riding sheâs doing.
sm chisel for $1800
or be the cool uncle and convince her to ditch the HT idea
The polygons could be a good time. May be a bit big now, but 410 reach isnât too terrible to grow into. seems available July.
Youâd have to dig into the details of stack/reach and component spec. With female body specific iirc you are liable to get comparatively smaller touch points, prolly diff saddle, and if the lights are on a shorter reach relative to stack, esp. on smaller sizes. I think some of the Juliana bikes basically added a smaller size or two in addition to offering some of the same frame sizes as menâs bikes.
In the last few years, what crusty said is true regarding smaller or different touchpoints.
Liv was really the last to make actual geo changes (shorter reach, and often steeper HTA) compared to menâs bikes. And it looks like they still do a bit, though product line looks slimmed down some.
Can also see if any spec shops have the Status 140 in either the Zero
or the standard S1 if sheâs gonna grow into it.
Canât remember what small change there was between these two, but they are different skus.
On the FS bikes the Livs were just shifted one size, so a medium Liv was a size small Trance
Newer ones might differ more.
So they built the whole brand around special sized girlbikes and just lied about it? Wasnât there a lot of talk about shorter reach and stuff?
They didnât lie. It wasnât just moving a size down. They were genuinely different. Sup was looking at a few bikes because she was a giant fan for a while, but then we were so perplexed by HTAs being 1* steeper among a few other things.
