I shoulda bought those pedals

I’m very intrigued by this Hiplok but it does indeed weigh about twice as much as my Knog lock that I already thought was pretty heavy

Yup–between 4-5 pounds.

It’s just a chain lock with a fancy buckle, right? I remember carrying my kryptonite chain locked around my waist back in the day. Till a friend who was in EMT school said they’d all heard about bike folks who ended up in the ER for some reason and the docs had a hell of a time dealing with them because they couldn’t get the 5lb of steel off of them.

Also they would end up at the ER because they fell and it broke their hip

Bike culture is so silly

It appears you secure the Hiplock with a canvas/velcro belt piece rather than lock the complete chain around your waist…so likely easier to cut off.

Yeah, that’s their big innovation. Don’t need to lock yourself in to keep in on your waist.

I really don’t understand how people can ride bikes with stuff around their waste. My damn belt is annoying enough. A huge chain or a big fanny pack thing would be utterly unbearable for me.

I feel the same way about hydration waist packs.

I think they’re just not for beefy bois like me.

Riding sans pack is great. Don’t think I’ll ever go back to wearing a hydration pack if I can avoid it.

Skinny boi here. Also in the waist pack crew, not hydro, but has a spot for a bottle. Both of them I’ve used have pretty comfortable waist straps.

For the record, my curiosity for the chain did not extend to wearing it. Having my legs, balls, and gut all competing for the same space while I ride is bad enough as is

Just get rid of the balls
