Frustrating Tires

Do you ever have one of those tubes / tires / rim combos that just seem to never get on right. You get it on but somehow you managed to miss a hole in the tube. Go again, next time for some reason the tire won’t get on. You break a tire lever trying. You get frustrated… over and over and over and over until you decide in a fit of rage after using an entire small box of patches and breaking two tire levers that you are going to take a razor blade to the tube so it never ever ever sees the light of day and you kill it so hard it dies forever and ever?

Sometimes this happens to me.

you should call tarckter phil

Happens to me all the time. Mounting tires is a frustrating thing.

My bmx rear wheel has this very problem. The price you pay for having wider rims (less susceptible to pinch flats) is that most high pressure tyres won’t fit easily. I went through 5 tyre levers in one sitting, until I bought the Topeak shuttle.
A life-changing purchase.

2 hours and 1 tube getting a michelin speedium on a deepv.

hope that makes you feel better.

It’s nice knowing I am not alone in this.

when i got my veeps i forgot to put rim tape on… bye bye 8 bucks.

definitely have had this problem. i’ve broken loads of levers, including flimsy metal ones. get yourself some nice steel core levers like the soma ones.

what i find even more annoying is that damn velomax rim tape. shit never stays. rubber is definitely where its at (or veloplugs)

It happens.
The toughest tires i’ve ever had were Armadillos.
What a pain in the dick.

oh yeah, i’m with you nitro. last time i replaced my rear conit on the cannondale, it took 1 hour, two tubes, and two broken park levers. apparently matrix rims are a bit tight, and so are the ultrasports. bad combo. next time i have to mess with this shit, i’m taking it in to a shop. $10 and a short bus ride is better than being pissed off all evening.

pedros levers are worth the extra $1.

At one point I even threw the broken lever across the room, it bounced back and dinged me.

hahaha vigilante tools

It was a bitch getting a new Soma Everwear onto my deepv. I haven’t had to take it off yet, not really looking forward to it.

I changed a friends Armadillo before… fuck Armadillos.

Fuck armadillos indeed!
They ride like they’re made of clay anyway.

i ride 'em…
they’re ok… but, they are great if you get flats frequently…
miami has so much litter (particularly glass)

Yeah, I didn’t get a single flat the whole time I rode them, so they’ve got that going on.

broke a park lever trying to get a continental ultragatorskin on a deep v. live by the kevlar bead, die by the kevlar bead.

+1

i think some people need some tire mounting lessons
