The idea is to be the last person still on your bike in the end. As people touch the ground and go out, the circle gets smaller. Depending on the game, differing amounts of contact are allowed.

I’ve played foot down tons and the worst I’ve ever gotten was a few broken spokes from an asshat who kicked my wheel.
Last time I played foot-down, this kid threw his bike at me three times because I grabbed his seat post. The only part that bugs me about the whole event is that I couldn’t recover that third time.
This game is pretty popular at birthdays.
