Can anyone recommend a good inline cable adjuster? The ones I have currently on my front mech are doing my head in.
Think they are these jagwires. Just unwinding constantly.
Ultimately I am also wanting to try something at the rear derailer end of my sram red / XO system, so I can run some nokon cable I have lying about. No adjusters at either end currently in this scenario. I am wondering is there something that might slot into the cable feed end of the XO? Its an older style non-clutch 10 speed.
I used a jagwire rocket which has a rubber tip on HydroR10-X9T2.1/Force10-GX2.1 RD setups, jammed in the mech cable housing seat. Have also done this with 6600/xt shadow too (plus inlines at the ‘antenna’ housing run from the shakes), works fine, crashing may wreck the rocket due to exposure.
You could use the jagwire mickey if you have cable stops with enough tube beyond them, the ears should stay put on the tube and the adjuster hopefully won’t unwind on you. I think they’re only made for brake cables though, which means the gear housing/ferrule might be too small to seat nicely in the adjuster.
For inline, I have some generic ones and I have ones like yours, I’ve never had a problem with them unwinding though, they don’t spin easily enough for that.

Also, does anyone know of a drop bar that comes in 25.4 and doesn’t suck?
Does the Nitto Randonneur suck? It kinda looks like it sucks.

I did find that one on ebay for less than 200 bones so I guess that’s pretty good.

What’s wrong with rudy? Never touched one of their lids before.
I’m just annoyed every time I see some wannabe roadie jock dude wearing some shit with my name on it.
HAHA
I’ll adjust mine to just say RUDE
Thank you sir!
Fairweather / Nitto make a compact version of Noodle for 25.4 clamp. Also comes in black! I don’t have many miles on these but like them ok so far

Those Jagwires can unwind in a 60 minute ride for me. They must be shagged. I was not aware of the mickeys, they look interesting if I have the room. Thanks!
Nitto Classic.[/quote]
AKA B115 I believe. There is a decent amount of flare so get the 45s.
It’s a great shape and will look awesome on that Schwinn.

Nitto has 2 rando bars, the b132 and b135. The shape is quite different with the 132 having more parallel ramps. I’ve had varying degree of success with each and am liking the 44cm 132. If you want a good ol’ drop bar though the Nitto classic is very nice
.
I bought the Nitto classics. They’re out for delivery today.
Tarck, get me into a good carrying situation for my DayRuiner. I’ve been riding a Bullitt every day for the last 3 years so the question has been more of “how much” rather than “how”.
Have
- Milk Crate Rack
- Mid fork eyelets
Want
- Nothing on my back
- Carry 15" laptop for commute
- Accommodate camping stuff
- Accommodate day ride stuff (can still mount rando bag?)
I’m considering either
- Wald basket attached to Milk Crate Rack
or - Tubus Duo low rider and front panniers
For normal rides been using my ghetto cardboard-fiber rando box and happy enough with form factor that i’d consider making / acquiring rando bag…but this does me nothing for work commutes with laptop and/or overnight camp rides.
Should I just mount low riders and be done with it? Worried that always having a basket mounted would annoy me when just riding.
The duos are great, definitely put them on. I think the basket is the ultimate commuter solution. It can be tricky to fit depending on your handlebar situation. I’m never bothered by the basket on my bikes; weight is unnoticeable and the utility is great for spontaneous consuming.
I have and use a nice XL Swift rando bag, but really it’s kind superfluous. A basket + frame or feedbag is much better in my opinion.
Honestly I was thinking basket OR duos…maybe i’ll just start with basket because it’s the cheaper option as I don’t have any panniers and see how it goes. But the duos just look really slick
What size basket are you running? Haven’t seen one IRL recently but recall Wald 139 seemed a bit big and 137 a bit small
