Okay Im in my atomic bunker waiting for the blast, but the above attachment style doesnt seem like a good fit for my track bike that I’ll be using this on.

SV: Does your avenir have that chainstay clamp attachment system? Like this:
Cos I hauled a demo model that the shop had for a few miles and was afraid the clamp would swing and get all up in mah spokes.
Yea, it basically looks like that. Hasn’t been a problem for me, and I wind the strap around the arm a couple times so it doesn’t hang loose.
Both the Wike and the PB Flyer use this kind of hitch, it’s worked excellent for both:
I don’t care for the kind of hitch that clamps on to the chainstay & seatstay, seems wack to me and has proven somewhat problematic for friends who’ve dealt with it. I note that Burley offers a conversion kit to the ^ above kind of hitch for those with the chainstay/seatstay style.
I has Burley’s axle mounting hitch similar to the one you’ve pictured. I s’pose the chainstay clamp system could work alright if you fooled around with it enough to get it right. The axle mount idea is just so much simpler once it’s set up.
I’ve used it with bolt-on wheels, works fine.
Having done fixed gear trailer towing, let me please advise you against it… feels bad, man.
Gears & brakes are pre-requisites for joyous trailering atmo. A kickstand is bitchen’, too.
My advice: steel 90s MTB with non-knobby tires. Maybe $100-150 via your local Craigslist / bike co-op / neighbor / etc.?
Hauled a buncha shit fixed (with two brakes) before I got teh Misfit together, but since then I been all 'bout teh gears.
^It can be done, for sure. Not necessarily fun though, especially not with any kind of significant load x significant (70"+ g.i.) collabo.
IIRC my Cross-Check was setup with around 72" gear inches when I was towing my two kids. Climbing even a 2-3% grade was an exercise in hernia-inducing grunting. Do not want…
bumping this to ask
should i?

it’s a burley, and it’s $40, which is $100-$200 less than any other burley.
it would be used for hauling a dog sometimes, and then whatever other heavy things i can think to haul
yeah?
I’d be all over that. Yes.

Troof. Found that Burley hitch fits PERFECTLY in Karate Monkey’s dropout where I’ve got the axle and hauled a few lighter things (bikes, bike stuff, space heater thing) with it, but 59 gear inches (35x17) made it nice n’ easy, plus had bailout gear of 32x20 (46") if things got tough. Didn’t hafta go there, thankfully. Spinning like mad on downhills with a load behind is kinda unnerving.

Definitely do that, I have a similar one and I take it everywhere during the summer, they are a very handy thing to own.
I ended up with a burley from craigslist for 140 that was local to me.
While I could of gotten something new on the cheap via ebay, burley seems to have a good rep and decent product support even for the older stuff.
NO.
Could’ve. Which is a contraction of “could have”.
Goddamnit.
grammar. serious business.
I haven’t posted in this thread?
I have this Schwinn one, made by Pacific/Dorel, that I got at the babby shower. It attaches to the axle, similar to the above one. It’s not bad.
How old was Agnes when you first started using the trailer? How does she like it? Can you manage to get in a long ride?
I only recently started using it. It says they’re sposed to be a year/ able to sit up. It bounces her around. She puked yesterday. (She hasn’t spit up in a while before that.) I may put more pillows in with her. or maybe some 20" Big Apples. lol.
bonktown has a burley on it RIGHT NOW BUY THAT SHIT

I guess it’ll be up again
how much was it?
250 something
when it comes back there will only be 1
It’ll be quite a few months still before I’ll need a trailer. I’m bummed about this fact.
