Yep, that’s what I’ve got.

They’re fine. Comfy and look good but don’t do anything but keep the wind off. No insulation at all. I use them a few times a year.

Rain will work its way in, but not in a significant way. If I’m riding in the rain for an hour, my feet will be at least a little wet.

The material is pretty fragile. Small tears will happen with minimal abrasion and they’re likely to grow.

Bonus: I got the road ones for my road shoes, but since I’ve stopped wearing them I’ve found that they work pretty good for my mtb shoes. I’m able to stretch them around the tread. Wore them for a 50mi ride with a little bit of walking and they held up well.

Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn’t actually considered getting new shoes. This would solve the fit issues that seem to come up with so many booties. (case in point the Castelli ROS XL will probably be loose around my skinny calves if reviews are to be believed).

Do you have any issue with water ingress through the top of the shoe? Seems like that might be a weak spot.

My one is the ROS 2… That’s the earlier version. Once mine wear out, I think Imma look into something else.

There’s also the fact that I’m not riding in the bleak cold much, this year, i.e. earlier than 0600.

I haven’t had a chance to wear them in heavy rain but I would assume that after enough time it would be a problem. You could pair them with sealskinz socks. I have some and although I haven’t worn them often they seem effective

Belt and suspenders is definitely my style. How is Lake sizing? I’m a snug 47 in giro shoes. I have some showers pass waterproof socks that are super burly that could work for this combo.

I bought in my regular shoe size and they were fine for my completely standard dimension feet. If you want to get fancy Lake provides sizes in mm, so you can trace your foot and be sure that you have the right size.

The toe box on Lakes is not super roomy in the vertical direction way although it is fine for a bog standard foot profile like mine. They do sell a wide version if needed

Anyone making a lightweight long sleeve (like sun protection) jersey in fun patterns/colors?

Also, who makes bike caps with sahara flaps out the back?

Shake dry?
The weather there was super changeable, I get the draw of a waterproof jersey… I think if you dont want a jacket that will keep you dry, go with something that dries quick and just let it get wet. I think I just road in my normal 3 layers rain jacket like 100% of the time. The wind is huge and so having a windproof layer helped too.

Looks like Seattle was in winter when I’m going. 50° and maybe raining. I used to just stack whatever team kit layers but I’m hoping I can cut at least one out by going Gabba + arm warmers + some warm bibs + neck tube + hat, and then some sort of shell in reserve.

Well I did that exact ride last week tons of rain in the 50s… Wearing a short sleeve jersey my shake dry jacket and normal bibs and I was super happy! If you have never used shake dry before… It really is the way the truth and the light. With it you could eliminate the arm warmers and only bring one shell… though none of them seem to be on sale at the moment… so $$$. What part of the island are you going to? What kind of riding are you doing?

Staying in Flú∂ir and will probably ride the area a bit. Ridiculously enough, I got into the Rift, so that’s the main reason for the trip. I got rid of most of my kit when I left Seattle so it’s a do-over for the wardrobe.

Sick! there are a ton of nice roads around there, but unfortunately it is also Farm country and a lot of the alt routes are hella washboarded but just get out!

[You should 100% ride up to Haifoss](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Haifoss/@63.948507,-20.5557235,10.29z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x48d6b44f8c13ef9b:0x9f39ac266c43d9e4!8m2!3d64.2078881!4d-19.6868531)

and if you have the time take a bus to [Thorsmork](https://www.google.com/maps/place/%C3%9E%C3%B3rsm%C3%B6rk/@63.7768504,-20.4123583,9z/data=!4m22!1m16!4m15!1m6!1m2!1s0x48d74a424936b0d1:0xbe83531b006d778d!2sVik,+Iceland!2m2!1d-19.0060479!2d63.4186315!1m6!1m2!1s0x48d695edc57426bf:0x47f0c253b29c700f!2zRmzDusOwaXIsIEljZWxhbmQ!2m2!1d-20.3221023!2d64.1350003!3e0!3m4!1s0x48d728b07c6a3e25:0x3bdf51b1325e39c!8m2!3d63.690939!4d-19.541434)

Also, biggest regret I have is not getting out to the beech on that side of the country, you should 100% do that.

Also the N1 gas stations are great. Get soft serve, a hot dog, and these little cups of coffee that are unlimited refills… at least in 2014

Dang I miss iceland
