Luxos U Warranty Chat

ohhh, I think I know what you’re talking about. If you strip a little too much wire and stick it through the plastic bit, bend it over and shove it in then the spade pushes the wire out a little bit.
you should be able to cut down the wire a little and hold it taught with your fingernail while pushing it in. That should prevent it from squirting back out.
I didn’t use any shink wrap with the plastic pieces.

I found this photo but I bent the stripped ends over the other direction (U-shaped cutout). Maybe try both and see which one is less prone to ejecting the exposed wire:

Electronics DQ: What is good for cleaning tubeless sealant off of circuit boards and connectors? Alcohol and a toothbrush doesn’t seem to do much, will Windex hurt anything?

Tubeless mounting mishap sprayed Stans all up inside my Luxos U, which stopped working.

I was actually just cleaning out my apartment yesterday and found 4 different canisters of solder flux remover which might be expired. You’re welcome to give them a try if you want, I was trying to figure out how to dispose of them.

MAF cleaner? Just used some (for it’s intended purpose) but I bet it’d get the job done, safe for electronics, a little pricey, wear gloves - it really irritated my skin.

Is it just the latex covering up the connectors that stopped it from working? How much did you get on the board? I would try mechanically remove the latex first.

Dried up sealant isn’t going to stop the electronics from working. If something shorted out when the sealant got in it then it’s probably too late to fix anyways. To repair water damaged electronics, people generally use distilled water to wash off the salts and corrosion.

I read xylene (goof off) is a good solvent for latex if you try. I have a bunch of dried up sealant on the back of my seattube and BB and it’s a pain to remove. I am lazy, so I just let it be.

Has anyone used a modified gopro mount for a light mount? I thought I remembered seeing something like that around here a while back.

I cut the middle tab out of the GoPro mount with a jeweler’s saw.

That’s the exact bike I was thinking of. Thanks!

Sexiest dyno mount ever?

It’s really cool, but I don’t really know who that’s for. Like if you drew out a Venn diagram of fast road racing-style bikes with out-front Garmin mounts, and bikes with dynamos, that would be a very small sliver in the center.

AUDAX
And
FAST BOY RANDO

I’m sure someone else can do a more lol worthy version than this 1 minute hack.

The setup was moved over to this bike for a more permanent home. I like having one road bike set up full time with lights.

Literally 90% of modern randonneurs, outside of the freaky PNW bubble.

What Patch said. Rando everywhere else but PNW is bike jocks on plastic bikes and a hissy fit if there’s dirt or gravel. They’d flip for that mount.

that garmin/light mount thing is for me!

The purple part would be who it is for yeah?

My winter break project is going to be a 3D-printed clamp that attaches a Paul Gino to my Thule rack. If that goes well, I’m open to suggestions for other types of gewgaws and dongles.

a garmin mount for 2 garmins
one for the strava and one for the powermeter
