It’s big, I have a back yard, tons of light, it’s in a great location, and I can afford it. Doesn’t really strike me as a problem.
oh, to live in williamsburg.
I used to keep my bikes in the bathroom when I lived in a studio. Of course then I only had 2.
I’ve begun to visit this cool site a couple of times now and i have to tell you that i find it quite exceptional actually. keep it up! =p

Ever looked into one of those plastic tool sheds? They’re fairly cheap, if you have the room and the permission. Get one of those, and for extra credit, lay a plug of concrete underneath to attach a big honkin’ eyelet for a lock.
If I couldn’t pull that off, frankly I’d just own fewer bikes. Paring down your stuff to fit comfortably in the space that you have is good for the soul.

you pay 2600 dollars a month for a basement apartment lol
you guys realize this thread is 3 years old right?
but… i am actually facing this problem over this coming winter. i just don’t have enough space for two nasty, salty, drippy bikes. i live right next to a library that has bike parking that is tucked away from the rain. would that be enough in winter. i’m thinking about buying a couple of bike tarps to throw over them at night. and this is in iowa city, in a tiny downtown that cops patrol all night, so i’m not too worried about theft.
errr… my other option would be to install hooks in the ceiling of this storage closet on my floor. the only thing is there is no lock for the closet, and nothing really to lock it to. what do you guys think?
Here’s a good writeup on things to keep in mind by someone who is constantly getting asked questions about cycling
My soul has been tormented ever since I moved into a place with a relatively warm garage.

Can you install a lock on the storage closet? That’s what I would do.
I blame the new forum, It was on the 2nd page. I never dig deep into old threads.
ian, ian, ian
please do not put those beautiful pieces of perfect metal outside in the Iowa winter.
love, Ryan
Just ULock the frames to the wheels in the closet? Doubtful anyone will fuck with em.

For the record this thread was spambumped. I smanged the spam account but the bumpage remained.
yeah, i saw that ghost post that was up for a while… that was weird.
anyway, just to show you guys why i would even think about doing it. this is what i’m working with between two people, and if anyone is thinking about paring down, i can tell you a thing or two about that.
thinking about hanging them here, maybe build some sort of hammock i could catch the shit with.

anyway, i’ve been worrying, really, ever since she moved in. the mtb is getting a fresh powdercoat right now to keep it in good shape. any sort of dirt/clutter makes that place feel super claustrophobic. i don’t think i’ll keep it outside. my gf suggested we just by a rug to dry them out on then sweep and vacuum the rug every night. i should have just asked her.
Wait, how do you get those bikes down? Some kind of crook?
I would understand if it were Manhattan or something, but… space is really at such a premium in Iowa City?
so, i just use a stepstool to get it the bikes up.
as far as space, it is kind of crazy. but whatever, it’s how we make things work right now. lease was signed a long time ago and i can afford to live on my small stipend this way. i spend my days in my studio so she has the place to herself.
