if the frame can only clear 28mm then it’s a moot point. Alls I’m saying is that if there’s frame clearance the 6800 calipers will clear a 30mm tyre.
R8000 should clear exactly what the frame clears IME. I think I can fit 32mm actual now whereas 30mm would not fit the 6800 brakes I had previously. The improvement is real and I would upgrade again.
my 6800 brakes clear 28s on a frame that clears 28s. gotta squeeze the tire a bit to get it in though

If it doesn’t need to be particularly fancy, it’s really hard to beat basic Shimano Deore brakes, especially at internet pricing. A pair is cheaper than a single Klamper caliper.
