Today. 3 sets of 5x3-4’ b/w 317-331. 45" b/w intervals, 2:30’ b/w sets. I need to work on my breathing and towards the end my cadence was dropping. I’m having a beer.
2017:
On the Soma with 25c Gatorskins and a 50x11.
2021:
On the Hatchet with 38c Hutchinsons and a 46x11
I wish I could figure out how to make GC give me a segment history, but this little Strava snapshot will do. I’d like to thank the pandemic for not giving me any major illnesses this year.
So, yesterday I did this and stopped pedaling after the last set because I got a phone call (I run TR on my phone). I went to finish the last 5 min of recovery, and TR glitched and reset the workout! Such mad.
Today:
Feeling pretty okayish. Endurance tomorrow coffee ride with openers on Saturday, and first race back on Sunday, hopefully with @Itsmattbb, if he’s not dead from dose number 2.
Not really expecting anything, just hoping to use it as a gauge. Hard to really eek out results against Legion and Elevate, but I wanna stretch my legs a bit.
Don’t forget Rally, Robin Carpenter is reged
We’re gonna get lapped
took a week almost completely off, but it seems to have paid off. 75min at threshold wednesday then decided to mix it up from the all-ftp regimen i’d been on and did 30 minutes at %120 today. i guess i can sustain my old ftp for at least five minutes now.
five minute intervals were done on the new bike path up the “mountain” about five minutes from my door. very stoked on this since i used to ride 45 minutes to do hill reps.
how’d it go?
I’ll tell you in 7.25 hours
Please update us
We survived. Robin Carpenter did not show up but it was a hard fast race anyway. Started my garmin a lap late so that may skew my avg a little
I let myself get bullied a bit too much and had trouble digging when I should have. Not sure if I want to blame my 2nd pfizer dose on Thursday, but NP was only like 210w, a full 100w less than @rabbi . He was up at the front and a lot more active than I was able to be. I’d use him as a rabbit to motivate myself to move up, but then get swarmed again. It didn’t end up mattering though since L39ion gonna L39ion and did their leadout train thing and went 1-2. I think I managed to hit record on my gopro so can upload later if anyone wants to see me riding poorly
Well, we didn’t die. 84 racers lined up. 29.5mph for 75 min and I ended with 313w normalized after rolling back to the car. Came in around 30th? Legs felt pretty good and did what I wanted them to, but it was just a clusterfuck in the last 5 laps. Legion lined it up at 5 to go and there just isn’t another team with the numbers to go against them. Justin’s wheel is the most highly contested position once they start their drag. The swarm is real and the bottleneck is crazy. They really weren’t going THAT hard on the front (I estimate b/w 350-400w avg for the last laps, excluding the last lap), but nobody wants to/can put up a fight. I think, with the proper organization, someone could put up a fight. It also kinda seemed like every other team was just a rag tag bunch of guys. Powerhouse teams just either not there in the normal numbers (1 guy from Elevate, 1 guy from Wildlife Generation) or like they’re a club amd not a cohesive unit.
Warning: it’s the whole damn race minus the last lap because my battery died and I don’t expect anyone to watch the whole thing. If anything it’s for me to review and figure out where I can be better. About 20 mins in I actually hung out at the front before I decided I didn’t feel so good up there.
Tell me about the watts/mph/route on the screen.
Garmin Virb edit is free and let’s you put those on there, just need to sync the GPS file to each clip. Don’t need to use a garmin virb for video either
The newer GoPros have a GPS built in, too. You can add it with their software.
took out the toddler-trailer today and stretched out my usual 5m hill to 8m. 4x with 5min rest for dr seiler magic. really didn’t feel good. was way too hot. just to add insult to injury, i completed the last 3.5 minutes of the workout on a rear flat.
i have been feeling like trash garbage since sunday. raced poorly. felt bad on ride tuesday. felt REALLY bad on ride yesterday. not sure if it’s the heat or my eating or i’m just tired.
I just noticed your name change, funny enough I used to do these same intervals on Mt. Soledad road.
Ok, doing tons of zone 2 this year and i just had a wonderful diesel power ride. 100 mellow km in zone 2 with 700 meters of climbing, on pace for a < seven hour 200 and only needed to drink a single ensure+.
Anyone ever try cordyceps? I got a bottle, will report back if it makes a difference.
Between racing and vo2max stuff and just generally being tired, I haven’t done any threshold work in a while. May try to get some in later today if I have time. Doing a cat 2/3 circuit race on Sunday, not very many races with a 2/3 field so hoping I can pull a result out of my ass. I was feeling really good at Thursday night worlds last week, and I think I had the winning move if it wasn’t for car traffic
Attacked like 60 seconds out from the finish, which is the best part of my power curve, right when the front sat up. Had a good gap, slowed a little for the SUV which moved out of the way, decided not to go inside the jaguar even though I probably could have, then my battery died
