It would definitely solve the alignment issue. I never really understood why the industry didn’t go with a splined interface for threadless headsets. Probably for the same reason we have so many BB spindle spline types.

Ok it’s going to be current general riv geometry 71/71? Maybe 70/72?
with the same rear triangle across all sizes (45-47cm CS)
It will be canti/v brake
Fits current medium gravel tires (700x42max)
Stock build with be with alt bars like a Bosco tosco whatever
I don’t think it will be stock threaded 1” but if it is it will be available with a long steerer with threads cut at the top and cut to fit
OR
They will do a disc QR and it will break the nerd bike internet as GP has succumbed to the pressures of his customers

Maxxis Rekon 29x2.6, maybe? In any case, it’d be cool to run a 2.2 or whatever and have ample mud clearance.

putting 29x2.6 on a bike with gravgrav geo sort of feels like when we all realized that our drop bars were getting way the fuck too wide.

Crust coming out with new handlebars like the Towel Racks that are narrower also makes me think we realized something too.

I dunno, my dad’s nickname for me growing up was Sasquatch, and girls used to accuse me of getting shoulder implants. I can’t use anything narrower than 50cm on a drop bar anymore. Maybe a 48 if I want to feel like a roadie getting aero, but I doubt it.
I realized I’d finally gotten bars that fit.

I don’t consider 50-52cm too wide and I wouldn’t want any narrower than my current 52cm cowbells. Was more referring to the crust and curve bars that went a wee bit too far, especially those holy shit walmers that weren’t designed for humans.

Okay, that makes perfect sense. The Towel Rack is ridiculous, and seeing average-sized dudes riding them with their arms out at 45º angles is kinda funny.
I keep forgetting that Stockholm is ‘conservative’ in the cycling sense. You don’t see niche boutique bikes here very often. All the expensive ones are Specialized and Trek, and you see the occasional Transition. And, my fave bike shop - with the most expertise I’ve found - teases me every time they see me. ‘We know whose bike it is, with those ridiculous bars.’

Im.only 5’ 10” and I rode my buddies SS Gryphon with ridiculous Walmers on it and I really enjoyed it in the singletrack. Wouldn’t want to tour on it tho.
