In case you needed some more anodized bling.

I’m only on my second!

Never were for me and i rode in the pnw 4-5k miles a year for 5 years. But i had them spread out between multiple bikes.

These days i have either flats or spd mountain pedals and the flats are the ones that absolutely get smoked in a season.

I’ve never personally worn through a set of road pedals because the way the float feels make my brain itch.

And now that I’m thinking aboit this, I think the difference is more to do with plastic bodied pedals vs metal and bushings vs bearings.

I’ve worn through many cleats, but I think the Time pedals on my bikes are each over ten years old. The occasional lube and they’re fine.

I have my m-747’s on my trail bike now. Been riding them off and on since I bought them new 30 years ago? Never serviced

I don’t know when Praxis released the 2 tone X Rings but I might have to pick up a set at some point. I’d been resisting spending the money since their basic steel rings shift just fine but I really like the look of these:

Buddy has been to Growtac HQ to pick up my new levers! He didnt tell me initially that he was gonna be away for 1.5 months… Anyway. He tried some and said that they felt great in friction mode. They are still working on the indexing plates.

I’m not sure I grok the distinction you’re trying to make here, but load cell configuration absolutely makes a difference to accuracy and precision. Where the load cells go often determine the configuration.

Spider-based power meters can be arranged about as optimally as one could, which is why SRM was king for so many years. Crank arm based power meters are subject to the geometric influences of the shape of the crank arm, thus the shitshow that is the Shimano unit. All the left arm ones work fine because it’s almost a perfect beam, but that’s still left side only. Huh based power meters are influenced by drivetrain losses which vary with the particular gears chosen and the state of the drivetrain.

That’s all theory. In practice, today, Favero has the most accurate unit. Whether or not that matters for the particular use case is debatable.

It wasn’t my intention to disparage spider-based power meters. If the Favero didn’t exist that’s what I’d be using, vs. the Garmin pedals, for example. If one doesn’t mind the limitations associated with them, ie the particular cranksets and the difficulty moving them between bikes then they are probably among the easiest configurations to get right, and they do. I haven’t heard any complaints on any of them that had to do with the power meter.

As for pedals being wear items, that’s true. Favero recognizes this with parts and support. New bearings, bodies, and other parts are available and they’ll actually refit your pedals if you’re willing to send them in.

Gonna ask them about the pour-over, but I just realised, that sign is a set of track bike rollers, which is what I think they are most well-known for.

woah, good spot

Weird thing is that I knew they did rollers, but only worked it out when looking at a Blue Lug blog. I think Maqene might be in the same factory. Looks like they do funky programmable lights that you can programme mesages into from your phone.

Magene? the power meter folks? NVM, clicked thru, yeah.

Now we’ve finally got the GRX 12sp mechanical shifter to pair with the RX-822-SGS (and a dropper post if you choose).

I feel the 40t ring with 10-51 MS cassette is where I’m headed and the 1x setup I’ve been waiting for. I’ll have same chains on mtb and NFE, and finally be able to stop faffing about on stuck HG cassettes. I’d been looking to swap 30-46 for 28-44 double and shorten my cranks while I’m at it, but this 1x route seems to make more sense to get the range whilst avoiding SRAM.

Damn, these guys think of everything. Different fin to deal with the difference in the 2 sram 12 speed spacings.

Actually, I should ask them what tool they use for dicking with those circlips.
