every time you write this word i am stunned by the vowel:consonant ratio
the only other such place i have seen is this region of ottawa on the french side in gatineau

What i have just realised is that Aotearoa is completely phonetic in pronunciation.
Ay-oh-tea-a-roa.
Maori vowels are different to English vowels too.
We say, “eh ee I oh you”. AEIOU
They say “ah eh ee or ooh” AEIOU.

I have to sing Split Enz’s “Six Months in a Leaky Boat” to remember how to pronounce it.
I became a tad emotional when they sung that at their concert 2 weeks back. Took me by surprise a little. My Australian grandson was 2 today Jono, and my youngest daughter got her Australian citizenship yesterday…

The entire Serbo-Croatian language works that way. Some guy with a mustache in the 1800’s renamed all of the Latin and Cyrillic letters after the phonemes and got everyone to go along with it. Each letter only has one sound and the sound is the letters name so as soon as you can recognize the letter on a page you can read pretty much anything. Near universal literacy. In two alphabets.

When I toured the Balkans, it was a revelation to realize ‘ресторан’ was just ‘restaurant’ and ‘такси’ was just ‘taxi’. I felt relief, and also lied to.

They used to use Chinese characters and the king created a much simpler phonetic script and implemented it to improve literacy, is the gist of it.

Could it be a counterfeit?
I suppose it’s possible, but I got it from one of the big online bike retailers, not like amazon or ebay etc
I bought a pair of those a year ago and they were perfect 
Panasonic releases a new lugged road bike with OS headtube. Don’t recall seeing this combination before.
They made new lugs for this too. Workmanlike design but still cool. I can’t help but think they should have designed for a tapered headtube instead. Hopefully this signals they’re going to update the cyclocross frame, their sponsored riders are on their Ti all-road bike right now.
