Yep, Manhattan Grand Optical is great. I got my last pair of progressives there and they spent a lot of time with me getting the positioning perfect.
@frank_doktor stalk to us about those Smith glasses with inserts
I will try to fill you in once I try them. Really hoping they work so I can have something besides my regular glasses to wear while riding. My current ones (now 3 years old) are sliding down my nose so much I recognize that I am scrunching my face hard and looking almost angry to keep them up while riding.
I went many years through high school and such with contacts. Then got real fucked up on a bad rx after a move and then went back to og opto a year + later to found out I had an astigmatism. Since then contacts never worked as well. And since I have some access to discounts on rx smith stuff I figured I would give them a try.
I am far sighted so in theory I don’t need to wear much. I mean if the tree is reading distance away it is too late. I have raced with just goggles in the last few years when I needed them and it was fine. But hoping to find a better balance since I do need some help.
My eyes have been watering like crazy this week going to work in the cooler mornings. I ordered some fit overs to hopefully help.
Ran into a buddy this morning. He is 75, just been touring in South Korea, over there he bought a lid with a magnetic clip on visor. Damn it was cool. Id be super keen to try that. You can un clip and rotate 180 deg to just sit on your lid if you dont want you use it. Brand started with “K”.
Actuaĺly, not sure visor is the right word?
This kinda thing.
Go full robocop, even has brake and indicator light options

If I have to get glasses should I get the cazal 951/955 or nah
Been looking high and low for rose colored Rx sunglasses lenses that fit frames with grippy temple tips (so they do not get shaken off with activity). Any ideas?
@jame5on how advanced do the Chinatown people get? Can I bring them some, for example, Oakley frames that have more or less normal lenses (not curved or shield type) and have them fab up lenses?
you’ve never seen me in anything but the Oakleys I buy from them. They also carry a techies looking sport brand. I don’t remember the name but they can do any Oakleys. I like their in house dr too.
I don’t think they can do ANY Oakley. Even Oakley doesn’t do any Oakley. Like the kind of lens that is one long piece covering both eyes. Man I wish.
I also got some buggy looking roadie Oakley prescriptions once from sportrx and they were terrible. Like fisheye lens view because of how curved the glass is.
Bro jus get some script frogskins
Or frogscripts for short
