Recommend me a bright as fuck light.

Lately now that its winter, on my way home everynight I am almost hit approximately once every mile. Its probably due to people being idiots, but I know a better front light wouldnt hurt. I want people to think Im a motorcycle.

Any recommendations? Im willing to drop a pretty penny.

Ah thnx I guess that was a plausible thing to search for first.

I’m running the following. Cost $55 and will be more than adequate.

light - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12623
battery + 1 spare - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.975
charger - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1251
strap (although I’m sure you could make one too) http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12000

After reading those other threads Im pretty much down to the mininewt usb or the magicshine 900, time to go pick up my check from work and ponder this

“Bottomline: battery last a good 45minutes before the light drop a lot.”
That’s one way of my commute. : (

It just gets a little dimmer because its unregulated. There are a bunch of ones on deal extreme that are good. Search P7 which is the LED driver and find one that would suit your needs better. Maybe hi med low settings instead of just high & low. Also you get two batteries so swapping them is no big deal.

kinda ghetto but it worked. i used this and a cateye headlight that flashed.

Dynamo hub + IQ Cyo = bright light for daaayz.

Well, nights, but you get the point.

Not $55 though.

Had pretty good luck with the Cat Eye EL-500, I think the new version called the EL-530 is about the same. Not as good as an IQ Cyo and not sure how long the batteries last, but I think a few hours of continuous operation at least.

I swap lights between 3 bikes… that’s a must.

I have either the 500 or the 530… not sure which. I can’t stand it. Straight beam, no flood. It’s my highest rated light, and most expensive, yet I used it the least.
Also have two other cat-eyes. Not sure on number, as those update, but they look identical to these…

Good spread, decent light, but not bright enough ideally, but way better than just a “be seen” light.

Since i lost the mounts for those two, this is all I have.
BARELY a light ot see by… really just a nice blinky (it does have standard and flash modes). Works to see by in pitch black at ~13mph, but easily washed out by surrounding lights.

For the record, all these lights last for MONTHS with a few hours weekly. They are either AA or AAA… sometimes I’d use rechargeable, though the output is lower with the lower rating compared to regular batteries (1.2v vs 1.5v incase you never noticed)

This is what i put on my Xmas list… hopefully it’s what I’m looking for…

Dinotte 200 + in-depth review.

those dinottes seem waaay over priced.

I had a friend that had a Dinottes tail-light… amazingly bright. Annoying to ride behind infact. Never seen a headlight used.

They are simply out of my price-range at this point.

I did lol at the “Lumens per gram” column on the comparison table.

Has anyone tried this Cygolite or similar? Seems good on paper, but that doesn’t mean much.

I loved my Dinotte, same as 200, but previous model, Ultra 5. All was good until the wires cracked, which was a pain to get back together with new connectors. But, is great, super bright light that is easy to change on bikes. Sometimes they drop down to $100.

jest get 10 of those $10 lights on deal extreme.
BRIGHT AS THE SUN HITTING THE EARTH IN PERSON

also, if these had more ability they would be so awesome http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23492
same thing but yellow http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23490

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2933 this is the light i was talking about. They look like putting a cop light on your bike but DAMN will you be able to see like noontime in the desert.

It’s hard to say. They are more expensive than similar lights, which is not the same thing as being overpriced, but they seem to have no big shortcomings (except not being able to aim left-right, which is irrelevant to me) unlike almost every light in that range. Good run-time, great beam with no hotspot, plenty of modes, very water proof, easy to mount, compact.

I can easily justify $100 for this since there are no similar lights that compare to me. But it is really annoying that their price drops 33% every once in a while and shoots back up.

More ability, like these?

As I’ve stated in the numerous previous light threads.

I have 2 sets of Marwi’s and I like them.
