Souplesse Casings and Bike Soup - The Tire Thread

Ah, didn’t consider that. Not sure how many tubeless dirt jump tyres are out there…

Tires passed the stand-up souplesse test (they fell down under heir own weight) and felt fine on the ride home. I took them to a shop because I didn’t want to deal with milk mess, and the mech fought a bit to get them on the rim, but I’d rather they be tight than too loose on the bead. The joining of the “gum” wall to the black rubber is a bit sloppy, but for $35 each I’m not gonna complain.

So I found that I had a second Stan’s Crow. It had no labels printed anywhere on the tire. But Crow tread.
This one mounted up no problem, didn’t weep at all and has been mostly holding air for two days. Gonna ride it tomorrow. Will report.

Much of my tubeless #hesitancy comes from my experience with ghetto Stans BITD. Not so much the seating or weeping even, more that if I did get a tiny pin prick in the sidewall, it wouldn’t seal. I guess sealant has come a long way.

had to throw on an old panaracer tire yesterday which would no longer seat, its cool, throw in tube

goddamn riding on tubes suck

one of the only bummers about the rental mountain bike i had over the weekend was the tubes. so un supple.

Matters less with suspension tbh. You let the suspension do the supple and the tire tread do the gripping/not folding over.

i do not agree based on my 2.5 days of suspension experience. the roots dgaf about suspension

Yeah you’re right, I do often air my tires down a bit if the chunk is producing a bit of bounce. Also I measured the psi in my tires today with my new digital gauge and was surprised to learn that I’m rolling on 13psi. With tire inserts.

Pinch flats were the primary reason for me switching to tubeless.

From what I’ve heard on the trail, tire inserts don’t make a lot of difference for heavier riders, too. I kinda want to try out the Airliners, but the trick has been to find them in stock anywhere.

After doing battle with a Ritchey Megabite cx tire on a Belgium+ I can say for certain fuck these tires. The bead has stretched so much I can’t imagine how they’ll tubeless again. I threw a tube in. The wheels on my cross bike are non stop disaster. I just need to get a TA fork and a new wheelset so I can stop fucking around

If anyone knows where I can get 32 mm tan wall Goodyear Eagle F1s let me know

Holy shit @adem , look at this a wild crotchet designation appears!

I’m getting winter tires this year because I really don’t trust the Schawlbe Pro One TTs for winter use. Should I?

Or should I get blue

Panaracer tubeless is going to be wildly less trustworthy

get Continental, or one of the sturdier versions of the Schwalbe Pro One

I thought gravel kings were turdly thick tires?

What else is good and puncture resistant in 32 mm with a tan sidewall? I can’t get the Goodyears, they are sold out everywhere.

Specialized Roubaix
