Real talk: fukka $50 bell.[/quote]
Real thing is about usd$60-70 in oz.
And they can’t keep them on the shelves
Seems like the rockbros bell has more of your traditional brass bell sound
The spurcycle bell is just fucking heavenly though with a long sustain and a sweet, clear tonal note plus overtones that are really hard to convey through an audio recording, plus as a recovering orchestral percussionist I will freely admit that shit gives me some deep nostalgia (sounds exactly like a crotale)
TC though: would not pay retail for spurcycle, only have it because it was a gift

TC: Will probably buy Spur at some point. Just have a Crane and a different cheapo now.

This is obviously a blatant knockoff of the steerer mounted Crane bell.

BELL CULTURE IS NOT FOR SALE!
i consider myself a bit of a bell connoisseur and i have to say i’m pretty disappointed with that bell comparison video. i’m sure my $600 japanese custom crafted direct mount bell outperforms but still, first, the bells were tested in drastically different areas of the room. that’s horrible for resonance comparison and when i imaged the peaks i saw very different levels of latent audibility. second, the bells were on different handlebars which is clearly a huge indicator. imagine a large man playing a cello as compared to a small woman - naturally they’re going to have different tonality. i’d like to see the same comparison done with the two bells on the same handlebar of the same bike in the same area. and also i think it’s embarrassing that this was conducted in a basement because as you must know, the higher relative humidity affects intonation. if more bells are added to this test in the future, i’d expect that they’re done in a controlled environment.
TC: I actually thought some of those thoughts. Gotta control those variables!

itt: because science
can we talk about the names? rockbros sounds much cooler than spurcycle
I really expected them to be on the same bike, just different sides of the stem.
Important Q: What do they sound like if you ring them both at the same time?
thread of the year
We need a tarckbell, only instead of dinging, it has a speaker that plays rando quotes in the Google Navigation voice
Y’all are weird, but…
Just bought a second Spurcycle bell online. 39 bones now–imitators are gettin’ to 'em.
MUSA!?
edit: 8 bucks shipping–Doh!!

bro you don’t even know
i’ve done hours-long master classes on extracting the correct overtones from a triangle during a mahler symphony
Ilu tarck.
Ergott, get on that HiFi recording.
Someone add a crane knock off to the mix
ergott, please don’t forget to use an audiophile grade ethernet cable when recording
