Sheldon/Harris Cyclery says 42mm chainline with 103mm BB.
Ben’s Cycles says 45mm chainline with 103mm BB.
What say you tarckbike?

I always heard 45. I’ll go measure.
Actually, no need. Just by looking at the chainline on my bike I can see that it’s not 42.
Does it cause you any serious grief?
Not noticeable in the least.
Thanks a lot.
I thought old RD’s were 42 and new ones were 45. I’m probably spreading misinformation though.
Damn it. Quit it.
I just measured. It’s 51.3.
its 42-ish if you run the chainring on the inside of the crankarms. the chainline is a big pain in the ass withe RD’s.
You’re kidding.
I hate my rd’s… I can’t put the chainring on the inside because it will hit my frame, I ended up spacing my cog out slightly. It’s not a perfect chainline, but my chain doesn’t get thrown off anymore. Are XD’s any better?
How did you space your cog out?
i don’t have this problem with my rds, i think i got them just as the rd2s were coming out so i got some of the last run of rds.
I used a cassete spacer and ground off the splines and installed behind cog, then I put on the lockring as normal.
Sounds about right. I thought maybe you knew of some crazy fixed specific spacers.
45 with the ring on the outside of the spider, a bit closer with the ring on the inside, but still not perfect.
I just used a 103mm BB and my chainlines straight as hell
some frames don’t have clearance for bigger chainrings when they’re on the inside of the spider. a 44t ring on the inside BARELY cleared the chainstay on my angus when i had RD’s (with a 103 BB). i doubt it would have cleared at all if it was a 1/8" ring.
I’m using the 48T on the outside and the ring is about 2mm from the chain stay.
