I think this depends on where you live, and what you need the jacket for.
I really want an arkteryx shell, but they are like 350 dollars, the upside is you could wear it in the shower and stay dry (we tried it out)
I wear my jackets enough that dropping serious cash on a shell is justified, when you end up wearing a jacket basically 8 months of the year straight plus, commute by bike, backpack, camp, climb and partake in all sorts of other outdoorsy things, having a decent jacket or two becomes pretty justifiable.
The US outdoor store in Portland has a clearance annex. I got a mt harDware paclite for $150 (50% off). I can go tere and get photos, correspond. If anything looks good then we’ll get money and shipping figured out. Lol they might have it all available on a webisite too.?
