Tarckbike FTW

Oh, I should add that last week I got props for my party foul from a real life stereotype… a girl who “used to mess” back in Boston, “for a couple years” (I’m sure she was a strong rider). When I asked her if she “rocked” a brakeless (of course I pronounced it “breakless”), she said yeah, because of the Zen. I’m totally fucking serious. It was so awesome, I punched myself in the dick.

dyin’

It took a great deal of willpower not to burst out laughing… fortunately, Lord Tarckbear gave me the power to persevere, so that I could get to the best line: she referred to her bike as her “Foxy Lady.”

There’s nothing I could say to her that would be better than the shit she was rattling off. I experienced great joy, probably even a little Zen.

I find myself not visiting bfssfg much anymore. Maybe to see the jackass/kickass threads, but other than that the threads there are shit. I wouldn’t say I’m far above noob status, but I barely made any shit threads when I first got into fixed gear bikes.

edit: im going to reread and post my old threads so you guys can laugh at me.

I find the long-distance, commuting, and utility forums o’er at BF to be much more worthwhile than SSFG.

i find surgery without anesthesia much more worthwhile than SSFG

Have you checked out the folding bikes forum? It’s almost as rabidly insane as SSFG used to be, before the Shunning. Except, instead of post-ironic hipsters (redundant?) riding party fouls, it’s got a bunch of uptight engineering types geeking out over which bike can be folded the fastest or most easily snuck past Mr. Big Bad Bus Driver without getting hassled. All very valid concerns, I’m sure… :colbert:

because you need to to ride the bus with a bike.

When you live 30 miles away from your job, it’s nice to have the option.

not to mention folding bikes are fucking sweet

I guess. I think I’m stuck with the stereotype that only geeky guys ride folding bikes, kinda like how only nerds had rolly backpacks in highschool.

you’se wrong

looks too much like Avril Lavigne.

Don’t get me wrong - I too think folding bikes are sweet. Just like I think tarck bikes are sweet, and Xtracycles, too (my fredosity is strong).

My comments pertain to the discourse I see in the folding bike forums, and my mental imagery of said discoursers. It’s totally geeks gone wild up in that place!

I have a really hard time believing this is true. Just seems like such an outlandish, ironic conversation… I mean, I believe you, just saying…

Maybe because I live in a pretty hipster free town for the most part. You’re more likely to find kids who have never left their Northern Californian suburb flying huge confederate flags from their lifted trucks with a fat chew in their lip blasting country music. Actually, that’s a somewhat common occurence.

I’ve had that conversation more times than I would have liked to

And it sounds like you live in hell.
