Sew glue and patch. Roll it on the rear.

The big advantage is that they’re “normal ass tires” with actual rubber instead of being thin nerd racing spec. They really remind me of being a much better Gran Bois Hetre where the Compass tires are better Pari-Motos.
I got at least a dozen flats on the SBH EL protos and the casing continually degraded over time, raised cords on the inside and flyaways/abrasions on the outside. They’re not consistently the same shape or texture all the way around and that gets exaggerated on the bigger and lighter tires, “handmade product” being Jan’s euphemism.
The WTBs are perfectly consistent, with smooth sidewalls that don’t feel like they’d scuff if kicked. I could put a normal person on them without having to nerd diatribe about how special they are. They don’t need special tire pressure monitoring and actually work tubeless without having to overinflate to keep them from bouncing.
I got some kind of leak in mine last weekend, I could hear air hissing out while stopped on singletrack but did a spin/shake and it stopped. Rode another ~40mi before pumping it up from the 14psi it was down to! That had it bounce while sprinting and make horrifying noises on landings but held up fine.
I found that 30psi was too much for me, ~22psi was pretty good
They haven’t been holding air perfectly, I have to top them off weekly
I find that incredible, because we both weigh as much as a fart, and when I tried ~18-25psi, I felt like I was going to case the rim on every little bump or curb I rolled over. I should dig out my AccuGauge, and make sure my pump is giving me a solid reading.
zomfg running low tire pressure is amazing. tubeless all the things I will from here on out.
Really digging big S roubaix pro 30/32s
can someone recommend me good slick-ish 26" tires?
Tioga Powerblock.
Well… Finally ran a Babyshoe to the point of failure. After three patches and 7 times installing/reinstalling the bead apparently had stretched enough to blow out putting my ass on the pavement (literally). I think I have around 2500 miles on them tubeless so I’m not complaining.
Mounted up some Horizons and they clear on the grinder. One ride in and first impression is that they don’t feel as speedy as the babyshoes but I still need to play with pressure and break them in.
I don’t know how anyone is running sub 40 in these and not having them feel like soft serve turds on pavement though.
Would post weights and measures but I left my notebook at work.
Also using orange seal for the first real time.
Rode home, didn’t die.
Oh… Almost forgot. Casings are NOT perfect by any means. They seem round and straight but you can see the siping wiggle back and forth when jra.
Buddy had the 700x38 compass sidewalk blowout this weekend on basic gravel. 2 mile walk to town.
Yeah, same on my front. Rear is fine.
I run ~30 psi, but my buddy couldn’t get away with less than 40, so Fred and I might be the outliers.
this is the most maddening thing with my fat tires.
the fact you can look down and see them be off but you know you just trued that wheel
I need help reviewing some WTB Riddler 700x37 tires. Ride the tires on pavement, dirt, and gravel. Write 250-300 words and take a few pictures. You get to keep the tires and will get co-author credit on my blog. PM me if interested.
I’m busy this month

peemed
Tires have been claimed. Might have something else I need help with, so stay tuned…

Babbys at around 50 depending. Most of the rides here with some mixed terrain I use them for see a large majority of pavement, so there is that. Still, I just can’t get down with them being soft to the point of feeling like bouncy suspension unless I’m going to be off road quite a bit.
