unicycles

does anyone do this?
i have a perverse desire to learn how to unicycle
am i gonna spend $150 on this thing and then never learn?
talk me into or out of it

I used to, was pretty into it and rode trails and stuff.

When it first clicks it’s like flying.

I also slept really well when I was learning.

Just take the front wheel off your track bike

genious

I bought one on a whim a few years ago. Think it was under $100 so it was impulse buy territory. Kinda embarrassed to ride it in public so I’ve just been messing with it in the living room. I got a few hours of fun out of it, learned to kinda-sorta ride it a little bit. Maybe I’ll give it a real go this summer… or not. Either way the cash/fun ratio is not too terrible already.
Buy a shitty cheap one if you can!

unicycles are the ska of the bike world.

unicycling is fucking sw8. i wanna get back into it, not that i was ever particularly good. learning is cool because it’s hard to fall- you basically are just suddenly standing up and the uni is on the ground

Yes this type of falling appeals to me very much

You’re basically in orbit - your head wants to crash into the ground and as long as you keep your body going fast enough it doesn’t.

very excellent description. would this make you an inverted double pendulum, but with a proper stiff and travel limited middle pivot??like with a viscoset and a steering stop?

every thread is maths chat
