Got one of these on our tandem, after around 500 miles one of the rivets that holds the little d rings on the side failed. We were not amused, but it seems like it would be easier to fix ourselves than to warranty. Should have got something from Riv.
My one lasted less than two weeks (100 miles or so) before one of the leather squares that holds the straps ripped apart. I was going to send it back but decided it worked okay as a tool bag inside another bag.

VO is great for certain products but not everything they make/sell is so good. The prices are generally pretty reasonable, though.

their stems are friggan amazing.
fenders, notsomuch.

I think I’m sold on the white industries.

the White Industries VBC cranks are so pretty

White industries scares me cuz chainring replacement.
The WI rings seem like they kinda last forever. I’ve got about a thousand miles on mine and the anodizing hasn’t even worn off yet.
I have just short of that on mine (well, over two rings) with no real signs of wear at all. Just a bit on the shift ramps. Given, not many miles in terms of the total life of a chain ring, but they do seem like high quality rings. The inner chain ring attachment is awesome, I see no reason why you’d have to use a WI ring there if you didn’t want to.

nothing over 120. hella unpro

Have you met their target market?

Stems are good, seatpost is good, rims are pretty good. I think they need a few iterations to get some things right, though.

ok then why a 31.8 -17 stem at all?

FTFY

Quick update, a 118 IRD bottom bracket was the correct width.

ITT: I start to feel better about going with a Bethoud handlebar bag.

I realized that too, but that’s not the ring that takes most wear. Looks like it’s gonna be WI cranks though.

i know patch hates VO fenders but I think they are great. Nondrilled really is best if you want everything to look perfect. I have bought a fair amount of their non-own branded stuff over the years like Nitto shit, tektro calipers and levers, and some generator light stuff, all super quality obviously. I always appreciated the fact that they ship 2 canada for really reasonable prices.

They do make some fishy stuff like the headsets, that’s for sure. they have just expanded really fast into components and it seems like not everything is ready for prime time when it first goes into production. A small example is the old hook-type draw bolts on their fenders that eventually snapped, which they’ve now replaced with better eye-type Honjo knockoffs.

Update, the recommended 118 also didn’t work. The spacing is appears to be more narrow than the TA originals between the chainring and crank arm so I had to put a shit ton of twist on the FD (DA 9 speed double) to clear it from hitting the crank arm. The crank arm would also hit the chain when it was in the lowest gear so I adjusted my limit screws and am now effectively running an 8 speed cassette. I don’t feel like buying another $30 bottom bracket to get the fucking cranks to work at this point so I’m going to leave it as is. Essentially, stay the fuck away from the VO cranks.

ITT: I’ve never ever doubted I made the right decision by buying Acorn bags

Yikes.

avoid the grand cru cantilever brakes – reports of them failing while riding.
