Pulled the front tire, replaced the tape, cracked a new bottle of soup, replaced the rubber gasket on the valve, pumped it all up with my floor pump (took lots of soapy water and a compressor the first time) and went for a spin. If this doesn’t hold air this time I’m putting a tube in there and calling it good.

Chasing the cause of some bad indexing I straightened my hanger, installed new chain, new RD cable (under the tape and through the goddamn frame…), had to undo and redo the FD cable while I was at it and all I did was making the shifting much worse…
And now the front disc rubs, making a very faint, but very high pitch sound.
Really don’t wanna re-route an RD cable to trouble shoot this thing.

huh.
is it possible it was making a noise before, but it was masked by the sound of a rattly drivetrain?
If not, have you tried:
-adjusting the position of the caliper via the old loosen and squeeze?
-checking that the rotor is not warped or bent?
-pulling the wheel out and manually resetting the pistons (the old jab and twist with a screwdriver)?

It’s a new noise. I swapped to the winter wheels while I was at it, so it’s possible the rotor had been nudged. It’s probably a dirty and sticky piston. I’m confident I can solve the noise.
The new cable felt horrible from the start, so either the routing is bad or something is stuck in one of either of housings. It’s just a real motherfucker to troubleshoot. I’m about to buy a usb endoscope just to look around in the DT.

I just use it for getting groceries. Just throwing grocery bags in and hitting it with the bungee net rather than dealing with the dry bag was nice.

Sometimes axle/skewer tension will affect the brake alignment. My crabon fork will do it if I don’t get the axle torqued just right.

I am packing the RM frame to go live its new life in the Other Portland, but the box my Marino came in is ~1/2 in too short.
Time to see if I can beg a box off one of the nearby shops.

Flatforce knockoff came and is now on the fixie. I’ve always been a fan of the long low stem with high swept bars and this is the most comfortable this bike has ever been. The middle section of the bars are perfect for cruising down a long straight on, and remind me of the ultra narrow risers I used to have on my Moser back a decade+ ago.

Rolling to the coffee shop and book store the other day, we picked up a puncture on the very worn out front tire of the bullitt. It sprayed sealant for three rotations before sealing. _pst-pst-pst_
Roli got sprayed in the face lol.
So last night I put a new tire, valve and tape on the wheel.

\*technically yesterday, but:
-replaced my thoroughly roached SLX parts with 1x9 stuff. not sure I had so much as replaced the chain since building the bike in…december '18?
-also replaced my IQ Cyo which had finally completely broken off from the mounting point. I had my eyes on getting the IQ-X but got a screaming deal on a lightly used Eyc T. tucked it into hopefully a little more of a protected position on the rack.
next up is rebuilding or replacing the pedals, which are also in pretty bad shape

Replaced the bearings in a set of spare VP-001 pedals. Tried to do the bushings as well, but didn’t have the tools to remove them and the new bushings didn’t feel any better so f it. It’s amazing how much better they felt with new (any) grease.

The lord is risen, so I took the opportunity to spruce up the drivetrain on the spicy curry.
New chain, cassette, pads, rotors, front tyre. New rear tyre arrives on Tuesday.
Oh yeah, also clocked 6000km and repacked the front hub cos it was rooted.
