Oh dang! It’s coming!
38f on my ride in this morning.
Seems like we speedran fall this year and have been pretty consistently in the upper 20s for lows and upper 30s / lower 40s for highs lately. Do not want. Glad I got the winter ruiner setup when I did.
Heh. Here in the PNW it was 70 and smoky one day and 5hen the rain blew in and it has averaged somewhere around 55 ever since. The trees are all trying to shed leaves asap.
just bought a new 45nrth greazy
trying to see how long i can go only wearing a vest
getting hard!
There was 1’ of snow on the mountain. I was only up about ~1500’ but it was still on the ground.
I failed at dadbiking this morning in our first lovely, slushy winterish weather. My tires were full of air when I rolled out of the garage but the rear one was empty of air by the time I got like three blocks away. I ran us back to the house and Ash drove Roli to school and will now be understandably annoyed at me all day because I messed up her morning. The funny thing is, if I were driving and had car trouble, she would have been sympathetic to my predicament instead of annoyed by it. what’s up with that? Is it because she has carbrain and can’t empathize anymore?
Don’t start that
Send a nice text a little later with a thanks and sorry
Maybe if you’re home first make her a something or do a chore
No way you need to up the ante and make them feel guilty for holding a grudge
Worked great with all my exes
Def gonna do that.
I know I’m at a different latitude than most participants here but I did give myself a taste of the ol winter cycling today. Brisk breezy 40F on the way in today and I decided to Fetterman it with shorts and my hi-vis sweatshirt. Never exactly got warm but took about 3/4 of the ride to feel not-cold.
Not sure what is up with that. I feel like I warmed up a lot faster on cold days way back when. Wonder if my metabolism dropped (probably) or I just decided to lean towards fewer layers (also likely). I’m sure if I’d put a vest on I woulda been burnin up
youve become a weak texan
- your not acclimated and
- you forgot your windblock
Windblock has always been a controversial one for me. Almost always results in a sweaty mess (but warm!)
Old school roadie chiming in here:
If it’s below 65f, cover your knees!!!
I actually have a pair of the swrve knickers and they are divine but I’ve a) got one pair and b) don’t want to be out and about wearing knickers all the time just yet lol
I wore swerve knickers exclusively for like five years in my 20s.
FTFM
Yeah… At 40F I’m in full length thermal tights, my warmest goretex infinium jacket and a wool under helmet thing.
Guess its time to break out all the winter gear… it went from 60’s to 30’s and snow in the last week.
yeah, we got the tail end of a tropical storm last week, so saturday I was riding in a short sleeve jersey and summer bibs, and then sunday blammo necktube, vest, ls jersey, thermoroubaix bibs with knee warmers, toe covers.
I’ll be singing a different song after a few months of cold, but right now I’m liking getting out the winter stuff. Also summers here in the mid atlantic are fucking excruciating, so anything that’s not three months of 90f with 99% humidity is welcome.
25 degrees on the ride to work this morning and so far mostly staying warm enough even though I’m out of practice with cold weather stuff.
The parts that are getting cold are my inner thighs. Some sort of wind breaking chaps to put over my regular pants would be great. Then I think they’d be a hassle to put on and not ever use them.
