where the fuck is the badass mofo video of the day thread

I don’t know if it’s BA or if it’s just WTFH

BA or JA? You decide.

Seems like he would have been helped out by some cx skills.

Looks fake to me…

Pixels and all that.

yeah that dont look so real. plus the bear would have smelled his ass and eaten the shit out of him.

Aight, so there are hella ecological inconsistencies in this if it is supposed to be in the US, but the dudes English is not strong and I dont know the forest types in europe enough to know if a brown bear/ grizz would be found there. however that shit looks real fake, this one however…

edit: at 30 seconds

Damn. The first two minutes were suspenseful.

Maybe this is a DQ, but why go off trail? Is there any reason other than flipping the fuck out?

If it wanted to, it would have eaten him for sure. But maybe it was just curious. Sometimes an animal will give chase for a while and then lose interest. IMO that video could be real.

Europe does have brown bears. Mostly in Russia and Romania, but there are a couple in austria/italy, france etc. As of this year, they say there is a permanent population of a couple of animals here in Hungary as well (we used to just get the occasional roaming visitor across the border from Slovakia). Bear attacks are very rare tho, at least west of Romania.

None other than flipping the fuck out I’d say. All sources say bears run much faster than humans on all terrain, and are better at climbing trees. They can follow you by smell too of course. If the bear is large you may be able to climb out onto a small tree branch that won’t support the bear’s weight and then it can’t get at you (unless it decides to climb on anyway and breaks off the branch, in which case you’re doubly fucked).

That video seems to be taken somewhere in Russian speaking Europe judging by the youtube page. So I looked it up. Adult brown bears can run at 35 mph for 2 miles at a stretch. Good viral video tho.

Yeah Lukasz, the speed was a major factor for me.

Lolfarks, I knew the Europe has brown bears, but what I meant was would they be found in that kind of forest (looked like pine barren).

35mph bear? Holy crap, no thanks. Last thing you would want to see if you accidentally get between mom and a cub. Mtb speeds would be a light trot for them.

I’m glad I’ve never seen a brown bear on my bike. I once stumbled on a little black bear while scouting a jeep track for camping, really scared the hell out of me. I rang my big brass bell a bunch and it ran away. I was nervous that night because I was high enough that none of the trees were good for bear bags, but it never came back.

Growing up in CO meant black bears in the trash errynight. Big, small, cubs, easily spooked, aggressive, all kinds. Get used to it but of you are ever not a little scared around a bear check yourself.

They wander all over the place I think. They get established in a somewhat remote area where they have enough food and aren’t too bothered by humans, and they wander into whatever area happens to be in bear walking range. I don’t think they have too many fucks to give about what kind of forest it is.
BTW I might have to change my screen name to Lolfarkas

I still haven’t seen a bear in the wild. I kind of like it that way.

I know some dudes who ran into a brown bear and her cubs over on the peninsula. She saw a bunch of large bearded men flying down the mountain at 25+ mph and chose the “flight” option, which I think is pretty normal for a brown bear.

Tarck NatGeo edition :bear:
