Wireless Shifting

damn. kinda at a loss here.

Awesome. I will never have this, but awesome.

It at least eliminates my #1 bitching point about Shimano STI levers, which is the fucking shifter cable jutting right out the side of the lever.

And didn’t Mavic do this awhile ago?

EDIT - with = this

that sounds cool, will also make the bikes look a lot cleaner and sexier.

7900 will have shift cables under the tape.

i think you mean cableless shifting, there will have to be wires from the battery pack to the electronic derailleurs

yes

No. There is an “analog” Dura Ace coming out in the fall with shift cables under the tape. Look it up.

Cool toys for rich bastards.

edit never mind. You’re referring to the electronic version, My understanding is there is wiring involved too. I am grumpy today. :bear:

did you read the article?

“by replacing the conventional levers that pull wound-steel cables through protective housings with solid-state switches and rubber-coated wires”

i know about the 7900 with hidden shift cables. i’m talking about the7900 electric shifting, which has no cables, but has wires.

cables shift derailleurs in conventional systems
wires carry electricty to shift electronic derailleurs

Wireless shifting would be funny though. Pros would probably start carrying jammers.

“Yeah. I could have won that sprint, but for some reason my chain suddenly went to the small ring.”

hahaha

Seems to me that it could be an advantage on a time trial bike. You could have shifting available on both hand positions.

did you see that video of a dude in the final sprint of a tt, like 100yards from the finish breaks his chain, crashes, then throws his bike off the course and into some bushes?

that was what your senario reminds me of.
