Wonder if it has to do with exercising indoors. Hotter so less clothing to absorb sweat + no wind to evaporate moisture

Plus no movement to send the moisture anywhere else so you just drip sweat into the same places for however long people ride trainers.

Long climbs out of the saddle are what do it to my bikes. My huge sweaty face is right over the headset

million dollar idea: a funnel attached to the frame that catches your sweat and reprocesses it into drinkable water
alternatively: stillsuits with chamois

This isn’t a “yer bike is fucked up” story - it’s a little aside about one of my most favorite customers ever. This guy has two Rivendell Bleriots. One is named Vanessa, the other is Veronique. Vanessa is the daily rider, Veronique is the “show boat.” This dude is 100% chill and socially well adjusted, not a “i like bikes like some people with autism like trains” kinda deal - but when you ask him about Vanessa or Veronique he lights up, gets a little smile, and will tell you all about recent rides or things that need fixing.
I fixed his flat today on Vanessa, and gave her a polish for good measure -because I know he’ll notice and it’ll make him super happy. Hurrah for interesting and eccentric customers, they really make the job more enjoyable.

No, but its easy to get caught in a loop with customers who dont’ have enough social awareness to realize your polite tolerance for their hours long one way conversations about some esoteric piece of equipment is a product of your position as a service provider and not genuine enthusiastic interest.
