Your bike is dead. Don't cry or yell at me

I’d say they’re dummies if you need that chain for the service department don’t put it in the fucking display!

Weird as hell.

reminds me of the time I had to explain what a chainring bolt was to the guy working at a bike shop in Arcata, CA.

B&B? The shop owner was/is a solid dude, progressive county commissioner for a bunch of years. Not sure how involved he is with the shop these days though. I wonder if all their good mechs found other work and they’re left with groms?

Yeah. Scott’s a solid dude. He’s pretty checked out these days unless you want to talk about the electric pedicab he just bought which he is very stoked about. The place is kind of a revolving door for employees and I haven’t heard anything good from previous employees but I imagine that’s more customer’s fault than Scott’s.

Edit: He definately has good politics. It’s a bit strange to see YPG, EZLN and Sandinista flags and a bunch of commie propaghanda posters in a shop that sells mostly Trek. But you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

Any other shop folks noticing huge failure rates with the new Teravail branded Q-tubes?

not a shop folk these days but the q tubes thorn resistant ALL failed at the valve stem. actually pretty much only jbi has the good TR tubes.

Oof, glad we missed the window to get Q tubes this go round.

I recently had a q tube with a split right at the stem right out of the box. It had been sitting around in my basement for years though so who knows.

How bad are we talking? If I just put one in, should I replace it?

I just had one of the teravail tubes split a seem as I was pumping it up for the first time after installation

I stay away from anything from teravail. We had nearly a 50% warranty rate with their tires for a few months and then gave up on them.

This makes me feel better about getting Conti tubes for an old MTB rather than q tubes.

Yep. They hate holding air.

Huh interesting. I thought people liked the tires.

If it’s bad it will likely fail within a day at the valve stem. We have had a ton of rework that we traced to the tubes. Inspected our remaining stock and the valves are very poorly adhered.

We got a bunch of those a while back and I haven’t heard anything, hopefully it’s a good batch. I have one in my bag and the valve attachment looks ok i guess? Also been using the tires for years and know lots of other people that do, no issues here
