Your bike is dead. Don't cry or yell at me

I’m not even so sure about Surly with a light rider these days. Lots of reports of cracking chainstays next to the BB in the MTBR brand forum - I’d usually ignore them but it’s people with 2 or even 3 failures in the same place.

I feel that way about my new eesilk seatpost with selle anatomica saddle on top. I keep thinking my butt is going to bottom out into something

This will absolutely break eventually. I’ve never seen one that didn’t.

you’ve only ever seen broken selle anatomica saddles? that’s crazy

the new-ish ones have replaceable frames at least

I’m specifically talking about the X2:

A very comfy saddle, but my rails bent and then broke. Happened a couple times to @Dr_Shart_Attack_PhD, I believe, and once to a guy I know locally. That’s all the Selle X2s I’ve seen. All broke.

It’s not if those rails break, it’s when they break.

Once I found the right Ergon saddle I swore off every other brand.

That saddle explains why his dropper is sticky

Found the offending saddle

(Why do I save things like this?)

Do those things have a 50 pound weight limit? Because that’s a pretty impressive failure mode for a saddle.

I’ve replicated that failure on one of Sinyard’s finest doing terrible CX remounts for 3-4 seasons in a row. But I am a man of substance.

What’s your go to Ergon?

My selle didn’t break but it bent soooo much and I would bend it back and then it would bend soooo much and finally I just decided it WILL break and retired it.

That thing is so pristine it looks like it broke on the inagurual ride home from the bike shop.

if you seek the og finish line, what you want is alleged to be the quickstrike offroad from multiseal

yes, if you dig back far enough you will see that i have been espousing the slime tire* since like 2018 or 2019. the og formula of finish line was amazing for tubes

Bookmarking this for later when the rest of my gallon jug of OG FL is used up

SMC gel sport in the M/L width. I ride the men’s version, but the corresponding women’s model is surprisingly comfortable.

HY that’s the one I’ve got too. I never think about my butt while riding so it must be good.

Mine started creaking lately, so I should probably grab a spare soon.

I put it on the bike at the beginning of summer and it was broken before the leaves turned.
