Here’s a thread for the mileage and KOM (king of masochists) competition The Rules:
[]To participate you need to say so at the beginning of the month
[]If you have a computer post up a photo with your initial mileage
[]Make a weekly post with your mileage updates
[]Make a final post with your overall mileage
[]Talk shit on your fellow competitors
[]Quitting your job, school, or both and going on a tour is grounds for disqualification
[]Going on holiday and spending every day on the bike is dubious at best
[]The contest is from 00:01 local time from the first day of the month to 11:59 on the last.
[]Most folks use mapmyride.com for elevation gain, it’s not accurate all the time, but it works
[]You must be this tall to ride
[]A computer is not absolutely necessary if you track your mileage accurately.
[]This is an honor system sort of thing, have some. Also, have some beer.
[]Trainer and roller miles do not count. Get outside and ride your fucking bike.
[]More rules as I can make 'em up.
Update: For those that have outstanding questions about how to tarck your mileage: The “honor system” means that we trust you to accurately assess the number of miles that you’ve ridden. Some amount of data in support of that assessment helps establish that trust. Nobody is going to come 'round and audit your numbers. Measure your mileage however you like and be fair to yourself and everyone else competing.
Till Heath decides, I had 76 yesterday and 24 today. It’s supposed to snow tomorrow. So yeah, I’m hoping for a snow covered redrock loop sometime this week. Will provide pics.
Speeds and distances shall always be referred to and calculated in kilometers. This includes while discussing cycling in the workplace with your non-cycling coworkers, serving to further mystify our sport in the web of their Neanderthalic cognitive capabilities. As the confused expression spreads across their unibrowed faces, casually mention your shaved legs. All of cycling’s monuments are measured in the metric system and as such the English system is forbidden.
The Rules.

We gonna start measuring our dicks using metric to make them feel bigger, too?
However we do it, I recommend naming your unit of measure as a rule. Miles and Kilometers. Feet and Meters. If someone takes up keeping totals again, this will help them.
I’m feeling conflicted between RAD and WTF?!?! Do we need to start a fund to buy Dima proper cycling clothing and gearing?
Any idea how fast you made it up? I did that climb in 25:45 back in March. I think I’d save a bit more for the last third now I know about the 20% grade before it gets really easy near the top.
I’m just going to change my name to metric rhys. That should make things clear.
DBR, is there something wrong with your friends legs? Or do they just look like bread sticks cos he tall?

The main thing to remember about dima is he’s 19 or so. He’ll grow out of ridiculous gearing just like we all did.

Not really sure. I’m definitely bringing a geared bike on saturday cos the fixed gear is slow during that steep bit toward the end.

Thanks, our smoggy inversion creates a nice spooky suburbia

He’s certainly a skinny bugger, but I think they look pretty normal in other non-stork like photo poses.
